Should I make seeds?

Hi Breeders of RIU! I was gifted 3 packs of different strains from serious seeds. Regular Chronic, Regular Kali Mist and Regular AK-47. I noticed they are quite expensive and not easy to obtain here and I am not comfortable with ordering internationally. $165-$185 CAD for these packs of beans. So my question is should I make my first crop a seed harvest and have a bunch of seeds for the future or is this a stupid idea and I should just run clones? Being a newbie I feel like producing seeds might be the easier and safer route to establish myself for the future.

TBH I am looking forward to ice hash more so than anything from the harvest and had the idea in my head I could still get a fair bit of trichomes for ice hash while also getting a crap ton of seeds from really stable genetics or again, is this a stupid idea I have in my head.

Let a newbie know. Cheers!

Grow them out... make 4 sets of clones from each. Use CS to make FEM pollen/seeds of original strains and use the other clones for crosses.
Yep, seed is expensive.
Have fun;-)

make seeds!! maybe do one grow and find your keeper females and then pollinate them with your chosen male? or just go for it!! i see no point in using CS, if you want to keep a strain around clone it, cross it, and then BX to the clone and bam you saved your strain WITHOUT using HERMIE pollen

So you're saying grow em all out, flower em and make seeds with the chosen clones? This sounds like a good plan which will still allow me to harvest some meds in a timely manner.

How many seeds am I looking at getting from a single plant which was vegged for 5-6 weeks and flowered for 8-9?

This ^.

Very cost-effective in the long run, and the only way to protect your favourite strains to ensure you've got them backed up.

I'll do breeding/crossing when I already know the right approach to it. Really nice to be producing my own seeds
but just not ready to do it with my little knowledge so off to buying seeds for me first :)

FYI Spraying flowering female plants with colloidal silver stops the production of ethylene necessary for the plant to form female reproductive organs and DOES NOT have anything to do with hermaphroditic tendencies. They are biologically programmed to reproduce under a shortened light cycle and eventually will produce pollen sacs that produce ONLY FEMALE POLLEN. This is completely separate from the oft over diagnosed recessive genetic trait known as hermaphroditism where the plant will produce BOTH male and female flowers. Using colloidal silver to produce female pollen and pollinating an identical clone will give you a narrower range of phenotypes which will be very similar to the mother(s) since they are clones. Allowing males from regular seeds to mature and then using that pollen to pollinate another plant will yield widely varying phenotypes as the seeds you are getting with these crosses sold today are what is known as F1s. The next generation if you make your own same strain seeds using male pollen will be what is called F2 and will begin to show variation.
