I was wondering should I put her in the big light now 600 watts mh or should I wait, she was out of the soil since Friday, didn't water yet cause soil still wet and don't wanna dry out yet my first water was Wednesday when I put the seed in the wet soil

Seedlings wont utilize the full 600 watt, but if you want to put her under a 600 watt go for it. Just place it 2-3 feet away from the seedling

Like Gucci said, just keep the lamp nice and high for a week or so, and slowly lower it down. If you see any sign of trouble, raise it back up.

Also, good job on the watering... overwatering is one of the biggest mistakes newbies make.

Welcome to RIU, and happy growing!

You're welcome, and yep that sounds about right 2inches or so...depending on what wattage you actually have for CFLs, you can put your hand on top of the plant and if the back of your hand is hot, raise the light, if your hand feels fine, you can bring the light closer until the back of your hand is "warm" not hot...good luck and welcome to RIU

Good job :)

Now, they're young, so instead of following labels, let the plants talk to you and tell you what they need. Underfeeding can easily be corrected. Overfeeding can cause problems that can't be repaired for current growth.

Keep up the great work.

ps. I find it easier to be more accurate with my measurements with 2L. I bought a water pitcher from the dollar store that is quite tall, and marked 2L line with a sharpie. When I had feed left over, I poured it into a 4L milk container that I cleaned thoroughly, and next feed (didn't feed every water) I quickly re-pH'd.

Notice to all you other noob's with seedlings. Look at how healthy his looks, and look at when he watered. With the size of the pot he has (or a solo cup or small container) whatever, if you water the medium thoroughly before you plant the seed, you DO NOT need to water it for about a week. (depending on conditions)

Nice job Pinguino!

Well, since it only needs a 23w CFL for the next week or 2, you would be wasting 577w...lol...
This time of year HPS and MH make excellent heaters LOL
i think they save me a little money, i sit in my grow room and keep warm no need to turn on the heating
if i were growing with cfls or something i think i would need about 1kw of electric fires to keep the room at 80f in the winter
shame electric fires don't grow weed too lol

peace

Thank you spek9 I rather let her starve than overfeeding I only gave her 25 ml of that diluted formula and then 10 ml of straight 6.5 ph water. For measurement I use a blender, and for smaller ml from 1 to 5 ml I use a kid medicine needle that you can get at any pharmacy

These are my latest seed plants which broke ground 9 days ago. I am a big believer in HID from the outset as these already have fully formed sets of third true leaves and are compact and sturdy. As has been stated before, place your hand at the top of your plant palm down and if it is too warm for you it is too warm for your plant. These were kept about 24" below a 1000w HID. Also as stated above DO NOT OVER FERTILIZE!!! Seeds contain all of the nutrients needed for initial growth inside the seed pod and elements needed for initial growth after the cotyledons break ground are available in whatever medium you have planted into. I use Miracle Grow seed starting mix and as you can clearly see, it supplied everything needed to get them this far as they were just transplanted from 12oz cups yesterday. CFLs will work, I just believe from my own experience that HID gives them the best start and that will reap dividends down the road. Happy Growing :)
