Should Welfare Recipients be Forced to Perform Community Service?

Honest working tax payer's lives would be much better if some of their wasted money was back in their pockets.
However if people have paid into social security for 10 years and become unemployed suddenly not of their own fault...they're entitled to claim from a fund they've paid into, correct?

What about someone who sells treadmills and claims welfare as an explanation of where they got their money from? Is it wrong? I'm torn on it myself cos I understand the need but why should it cost me tax money?
Perhaps Buckie can answer that question!

I didn't want to go there but it was my first thought.
Don't have kids if you can't afford them maybe?
how do you feel about me? I attended 5 years at NCSU with a dual major and mechanical eng & graphics design (all being paid for from my pocket because the gov told me to go fuck myself, being a single white male is not all flowers and rainbows like people seem to think, apparently some people that shared my same demographic enjoyed more entailment than there peers some time in the past and its only "fair" that i pay for it now), and work 8-5, 5 days a week since the day I graduated, I still can't afford to have a kid.

so because i am responsible and want to wait to have a kid until i can afford it and give it a good life, i should never get to because it is my duty to help support yours that you had when you were 17 and couldn't keep your junk in your pants and can't even feed?

That's what bothers me about the new American mentality. No on wants to take responsibility for there own actions and lives. They never know how bad it is hurting the ones supporting them, because we manage our incomes and budget ourselves to survive on what we have too. We don't look poor because we don't let ourselves get "poor" we do without and make what we have do because someone has to or we will all starve. We live a little hungry all week so that we still have some left on Friday and Staurday, some people eat all they want, and then bum off other the rest of the week.
How do i feel about you?
You shouldn't have assumed that you support my kid.
I get paid 70k+ a year. and i am un-married.
I get SCREWED on my taxes every year.
I think i paid $7,000+ in taxes last year. (i try to forget the actual number.)
I dont get shit back. I pay an extra $50 per payday, just so i dont have to pay hundreds at the end of the year.
It sucks even more if i have to pay the guy who tells me i got to pay this year.
While watching everyone around me married with kids getting $5k to $10k checks in the mail, and deciding what they are going to do with their thousands this year.

I pay child support, for my daughter, which i love to death.
But at the end of the year, i dont even get to claim her, or the child support on my taxes.
I even have to pay taxes on the money i never see.

So dont assume that i'm a freeloading.
i probably pay more taxes then you do.

Being unemployed does not entitle anyone in the US to collect social security, do you mean unemployment insurance?

Why wouldnt you assume that someone on welfare dosnt already have a full time job? or possibly multiple job's already?

If i had multiple jobs and was already working 40+ hours a week. would you expect me to preform community service on top of that?
What if i was working multiple jobs, AND going to college?
But i also had a kid, and could really benifit from food stamps?
and i really needed the help, because since im already working multiple jobs, and/or going to college, i needed to pay an arm and a leg for daycare for my kid/s.

Does that make any sense to you?

In all fairness, you painted a picture that you needed public assistance. I can see now it was a hypothetical scenario where you yourself proved public assistance may not be needed after all.

BTW, congrats!

If the external cause of the loss of employment is a disability, then yes. cn

Wrong! Employers pay taxes for unemployment.
Not important, the employer pays in on behalf of the employee, therefore their entitlement to unemployment is the same as had they paid in themselves directly.

The righties here truely hate Welfare without even thinking why they do.

Freeloaders off so the people who really need the money can get the money they need. Don't dismantle the net, change the way it's woven.

a majority of people on food stamps work for a living. that's a fact.

so are you calling working people animals? why do you have such disdain for americans that work for a living?

by the way, you weren't bright enough to think of that. that little copy and paste is like dogma in the right wing world of immature dipshits ho have still not recovered from reading ayn rand as a teenager.

my guess is that you still are a teenager.
