Hey guys im growing trainwreck in a 5 gallon pot. planted in mid march and its only about 8 inches tall with 5-6 nodes. Soil mixture is 1/3 patio plus 1/3 mg organic and 1/3 soil from the ground. i just started flowering about 2 weeks ago by using triple layered garbage bags to induce 12/12. no sign of preflower or anything can any one tell me when i should start seeing pre flowers or how i can help it grow faster?

And for the pre flowers wouldnt they show soon after the 12/12 switch. idk ive heard that it shows after 12/12 and ive also heard you have to wait till the plant is sexually mature hmmm.

MG Organic Soil should not have any Nute Pellets in it. Patio plus is good soil. The question is, what is in your ground soil? Is it sandy, clay, loamy? You want loamy soil. Sandy soils drain too fast and clay suffocate roots. Also, is there any perlite in the mix? MJ plants love/need well draining aerated soil. Without perlite, I don't see how you would accomplish that.

Second thing, what is your pH? Soil pH, feed water pH and runoff pH. Alot of growers don't keep up with this shit but it is imperative to know these things for when problems arise..like you are in now.

Help us help you. Give us more info on your grow and we will try our best to point you in the right direction.

PS: Pictures are worth 1000 words...

My ground soil is healthy. the patio plus has perlite. for the ph i just give it filtered water nothing bad has happened from that. http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/s320x320/303406_406401982716035_142561482_n.jpg heres a pic taken about a week ago
Bro, that's not good enough. You *need* to know your pH. You are complaining that the plant has slow growth but you also say "nothing bad has happened". Sure, plants will grow in a wide range of pH but to get explosive growth like you are wanting, you need to dial in that pH to where all nutrients are easily avaliable. Please, take my word for it, I speak from experience. No disrespect either, I just want you to have a bountiful harvest to your fullest potential.

Eitherway, the plant in the pic looks pretty healthy from what I can see. Trainwreck can double/tripple in size once it starts to flower so...yeah. I wouldnt be too worried if I were you.

Do plces like wal mart sell ph meters?
Soil meter tend to be somewhat innacurate. I do own the one from walmart though thats pretty decent. It is a Soil Master pH tester. Checks pH, moisture and light. $9.99. What you really want is a pH pen for liquids. I know ppl will bitch and moan but the yellow one that sells for $10 on eBay is pretty damn accurate. This was, you spend $20 buck and you will know your soil pH, feed water pH and runoff pH (most important.) Best of luck on the grow.

Nope. Brita filters do nothing to change the pH of tap water. They only remove some of the Chlorine in the water and even do a bad job at that. It also removes the good stuff like Cal/Mag. Besides, tap water varies greatly depending on source so what you read online about other peoples pH does not directly correlate with your tap water.

Don't know what to tell you. Without knowing your current pH, nobody can recommend you on your next move for "explosive" growth. I mean, you could go to the local pet store and get a liquid pH test kit for like $5. They use that for fish tanks and it comes with pH up/down, test strips, solution, etc. To grow explosive plants like you want, you are going to have some sort of capital to invest. Like I said, no disrespect, but a little money spent on your grow for things like these can take you faaaaar and wide. Best of luck.
