the new papers are garbage..that is why most of them are going bankrupt.
the media must sensationalize the news in order to sell their particular brand of trash.

I saw a figure of 35,000 for the regular flu in the US Alone, vs 150 for the Swine Flu (globally)

Yeah it stinks like shit. I can see them hyping this more and pushing more security into the country. They might even pull out Martial Law to fuck with us.

Right now they are preparing like motherfuckers for a pandemic, but the signs for one is somewhat low. So what are they worried about? Well when the last swine flu came, it took 5 months for it to start killing and spreading very, very quickly. It might be the same situation here.

So in September, when everyone is mostly mindless about this issue. It'll come back to take lives and wreak havoc. At least... that's what some officials expect. I hope this just dies off and we can all focus on the shit heads raping our country.

Swine Flu 7
Regular Flu 35K

Uhm... PANIC, PANIC, PANIC!

Lol :)

Oh, figured I should address some items

that's 7 out of 79 confirmed cases, which is less than 10% mortality.

1918 Flu
The global mortality rate from the 1918/1919 pandemic is not known, but is estimated at 2.5 to 5% of those who were infected died. Note this does not mean that 2.5-5% of the human population died; with 20% or more of the world population suffering from the disease to some extent, a case-fatality ratio this high would mean that about 0.5-1% ( ≈50 million) of the whole population died. [15] Influenza may have killed as many as 25 million in its first 25 weeks. Older estimates say it killed 40–50 million people[3] while current estimates say 50 million to 100 million people worldwide were killed.[16] This pandemic has been described as "the greatest medical holocaust in history" and may have killed more people than the Black Death.[17]

So, if it retains its (7/79) 8.86% Mortality rate it will be more deadly than the Spanish Flu, however it is not likely that it will infect 100% of the population.

However, until there is more data I wouldn't rush into believing the 8.86% Mortality.

Maybe when it's 2 - 3,000 Confirmed cases with a 8% Mortality with the mortality rate mean something.

Of course, that's assuming that the 2 - 3K confirmed cases are at once, and not spread out over 60+ months.

Remember, everybody PANIC

:roll:

Hyped or not. World Health Organization just raised the Pandemic Alert to level 5.

Strong signals of pandemic is imminent.

It's something to keep an eye on, that's for sure... but not something I'm going to spend my days worrying about. There are more pressing issues at hand here. I am worried about several close friends who live in areas in the US that are experiencing the outbreak in the here and now... but they're strong, healthy people and I can only hope they'll make it through. It hasn't arrived in Michigan yet (as far as I know) but it will come eventually...

You mean Plan-demic. its the new 9-11 its the freaking flu people. Look after your little kids and old folks make sure you don't get any lung infections you'll be fine.

The Massachusetts Senate has unanimously passed a pandemic flu preparation bill that has languished in the Legislature before the recent swine flu outbreak.
The 36-0 vote today sends the measure to the House. Both branches have taken it up in past years, but have not been able to agree on the details.
The new Senate version would allow the public health commissioner — in a public health emergency — to close or evacuate buildings, enter private property for investigations, and quarantine individuals.

The bill specifically mandates the following:
(1) to require the owner or occupier of premises to permit entry into and investigation of the premises;
(2) to close, direct, and compel the evacuation of, or to decontaminate or cause to be decontaminated any building or facility, and to allow the reopening of the building or facility when the danger has ended;
(3) to decontaminate or cause to be decontaminated, or to destroy any material;
(4) to restrict or prohibit assemblages of persons;
(5) to require a health care facility to provide services or the use of its facility, or to transfer the management and supervision of the health care facility to the department or to a local public health authority;
(6) to control ingress to and egress from any stricken or threatened public area, and the movement of persons and materials within the area;
(7) to adopt and enforce measures to provide for the safe disposal of infectious waste and human remains, provided that religious, cultural, family, and individual beliefs of the deceased person shall be followed to the extent possible when disposing of human remains, whenever that may be done without endangering the public health;
(8) to procure, take immediate possession from any source, store, or distribute any anti-toxins, serums, vaccines, immunizing agents, antibiotics, and other pharmaceutical agents or medical supplies located within the commonwealth as may be necessary to respond to the emergency;
(9) to require in-state health care providers to assist in the performance of vaccination, treatment, examination, or testing of any individual as a condition of licensure, authorization, or the ability to continue to function as a health care provider in the commonwealth
Any person who knowingly violates an order of the commissioner or his or her designee, or of a local public health authority or its designee, given to effectuate the purposes of this subsection shall be punished by imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or by a fine of note more than one thousand dollars, or both.

This vilolates 2 ammendments to the constitution. Best I can tell. Perfect excuse to search everyones home, how nice.

Very astute TBT you win a cookie. :)

But its ok its only for emergencies, right. Its always for emergencies.

The ammendments are not something Government gives you they are rights given you by your creator. They can not be take, I don't care if Godzilla is attacking. Well Godzilla may be a war zone so some rights may be.... trampled;)
