So What Is The Best Type Of Hydro System To Use?

I seen some aeroponics setups and they look real easy to make but im new to hydro but i still want the most bang for my buck.what is the system you experienced folks would recommend? and i like to go the cheap route cause i dont have a ton of money to sink into a system.

Depends on you space requirements, level of skill, a deep pocket book isn't always the answer. For my paticular situation I chose to go with low pressure aeroponics. Although this has been said to be the least effective form of aeroponics it seems to be working well for me and I didn't throw a ton of money at it. One day I would like to do some true high pressure aeroponics but it does take slightly deeper pockets depending on the size of the system.

High pressure is pretty costly as it uses a compressor and solenoids and timers to release a high
pressure mist into the root zone for a very short increment. Gives some of the best looking root
structure I've seen. There's a few threads on here of some folks running some really nice equipment.

Low pressure is typically a submerged pump with some kind of manifold and some
plastic spray heads.

I use low pressure aero myself and have great results with very little cost. I also like not having to
use any medium to grow in as I can go from clone to harvest with just a 2" neoprene collar, keeps
things cheap and clean and easy to setup for the next round.

thats the system im looking into doing i seen a how to on youtube just using plastic totes and i got a ton of them.i was wondering wether or not to use hydroton or watever u call those clay balls as a medium i hear it has better root systems and produces bigger buds.has anyone tried a low pressure with hydroton and without an seen dif results???

aero is the best.
Also probably the highest maintenance.

Ebb&flow is for lazy stoners.

i dont mess with dwc, although Heath robinson does some pretty crazy things with RDWC. check his flooded tube vert grow.

im running 4 clones side by side, all kalichackra, 1 in 5 gal soil using roots organic, 1 dwc 5 gal, 1 aeroponic 5 gal, and 1 topfeed in a 5 gal bucket of hydroton.. all transplanted the same time and are under a 400mh for veg. the soil and the top feed have had the best growth, and are ready to flip. the aero and dwc still need a couple weeks. so honestly i would go with topfeed on a constant drip. i have 4 lines going to 1 plant and its massive. im using h&g aqua flakes, liquid karma, roots accelerator, and molasses. im not impressed with dwc and aero so far.

what is DWC? and is drip expensive? i know aero is cheap thats why i was looking into it i dont have much to spend til crops come in.

Ebb and Flow . It's easy and runs itself.
yea i just watched a few how to videos on it it looks easy as hell but im trying to think of what id need to make it.i cant use identical totes because it would be to close to the bottom.what size pots do i need? i have week old seedlings now and ill let them go in the soil for a bit longer so i wanna know what size i should move them to.and if you have to gradually use bigger pots or do they stay in 1 size?

I got a good idea of how im going to build mine.i pretty much have all the materials needed except for some pipe and a sub pump.now i just have to find a way to cool my 400 watt mh cause its 95 in the room right now i had to switch back to my 4 foot fluoresent :( I NEED $$$ lol

yeah, cant get around the cooling issue. i had to buy an exhaust fan. you will at least need one of those to get negative pressure established so that cold air will move into the room. you can also feed in cold air from outside. but as far as the best hydro system... i go super cheap and do bubbleponics/DWC. i cant complain, i've gotten supreme results from it. if you have extra money do some ebb and flow but if not just go with the rubbermaid tubs. this can be annoying if you want a big setup though.

$100-$120 will buy you a good centrifugal fan. you may need a bigger one for your space, but ive got a 400w in a grow tent and the valueline works fine for me. you might want to get something a step up from that depending on the size of the room, heard good and bad about vortex inline fans.

i have a whole closet.about 5 foot by 10 foot so i need a good sized fan.i have a exhaust fan but im looking into a intake fan now to draw cool air in but they are pricy :(

You don't have to have an intake fan if you set up you exhaust properly and use 'passive' intake. Just make sure the opening for the passive intake is roughly 2x the size of the exhaust. Spend alittle more for a bigger fan and eliminate the need for 2.

yea i have to cut a hole for intake to get cool air in.but im trying to figure out how to keep light from bleeding out of the closet cause i sleep in the room also.i heard cheesecloth will work but i dont see how white cloth could help lol
