Soil air tubes?

So i just stuck about 5 very thin, hollow plastic tubes into my 3gal soil plants. They go to almost the bottom of the pot and stick out about half an inch. They are not near the actual plants themselves in fear of the roots gettting tangled with them but my thought was this would increase airflow to the roots/soil.

Just tryin to think outside the box but has anyone done/seen this before?

Or am i just wasting plastic ha

Thanks!

I've done exactly that using straws with holes cut out off them down the length. First i made a hole with a pencil so the soil wouldn't block the straw, then I just placed the straws in, about 6 of the as I remember. I did this before they sprouted so they wouldn't interfear with the roots. To be honest I don't know how much use they were, I should of had a control plant, but I had good healthy growth so can't hurt.

what about putting some air to those straws like from an aquarium pump like in a bubbler system but in soil

no..actually it has been tried and from what I hear, is true. makes sense...oxygen to the roots is a critical factor overlooked by most; but it's the little tricks in your bag that can make ALL the difference!

Soma (of Soma seeds) has been using something like this but with large pipes for years and he is a 00 grower
soma breeds the prettiest plants I've ever seen! my #1 kahuna (pics) is going purple on the leaves; but her cuttings have RED stems, red yellow orange green purple leaves.I want one just as a houseplant! just deny very much nitrogen, and I'll have a red pot plant!

This method is refered to as growing with earth boxes. Most use like a 4 inch pvc pipe maybe 1-4 pipes in the soil to help allow soil aeration and better water evaporation in heavy soils. It was actually just profiled in last months high times again showing a few grows using this method. You can google it or search youtube for examples.
