Strawberry Banana & Aventus OG DWC

I don't have a current grow journal going right now. My last big grow had a dozen plants in ProMix HP and all were either grown from seed or fem cuttings. I took 2 cuttings off each plant to make sure at least 1 survived. They all survived so I've been nursing them along since last June. Pain in the ass for sure but some good genetics in there.

I need to toss both the Dutch Kush and the Ayahusca Purple as they went hermie. This Hindu Kush is rock-solid female after 3 grows and just the best buzz too so will become a star in further grows. Going to spray her with STS to make fem seeds too.

I sure wish my partner was into pot so I had some help and after 40 years of growing I'm not all that enthused about carrying on. If I stopped growing right now I have enough pot to last for 10 years at current consumption levels.

For 50 years I was a pirate, a rebel, a fighter for the cause but now I'm just an old stoner. Who gives a flying fuck it's all on the table now. The real breeders and pot warriors have been cut out of the new regime so corporate bum buddies can scoop in and profit off pot. Now all those big growers are tanking. No one wants their crappy pot and the gov't is freaking out. Thank you Mr. Harper for setting up this fail and thank you too Mr. Trudeau for continuing his corporate rip-off to support your corporate masters. lol

Screw them all. I have not bought pot for the last 30 years at least. If I wasn't growing I knew people who were or my sons did so I always had way more pot than I could use and just gave away any excess. I've always been poor but just would feel really bad in my core if I made profit from any drug sales. I'm a chemist and could easily make meth etc and probably be rich in a year. But my soul would die so where are the profits?

I'm pretty much an athiest but also an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church since Oct. 1978.

I've worked for badass biker dudes and done a lot of shady shit over the last decades but never killed or raped anyone and put myself in harms' way many times helping people trapped in places they need to get out of so I'm pretty sure my karma is fairly balanced. ;)

I'd rather die poor and unknown rather than rich and hated thank you very much.

Who are you? How do you want to be remembered as? Think about it.

:peace:
Oh yeah I hear you on that one, money certainly doesnt bring happiness, i just started growing because the price of weed is ridiculous now but i wont ever start selling any of my shit and I dont think I will ever stop growing now because I love the hobby, there is something very calming about spending time in the tent!

1 week down, aventus OG is looking good but the Strawberry banana is yellowing somewhat so I've given her some base nutes as all that was in the res before was some root stim and hydroguard so hopefully she greens up but nothing to really worry about I dont think.

Roots have been in the res for a few days now and looking good, I just always forget how slow the first couple of weeks are!

You should have a couple hundred ppm of base nutes in there by now. They aren't going to grow without them.

Roots look good and are looking for food. :)

:peace:
Thanks Med, yeah I've added some base nutes now, always find the 1st couple weeks tricky for some reason, last grow I overfed early and this one I've over adjusted :wall:

End of week 2, Aventus OG looks spot on, nodes are developing nicely, roots look good and shes starting to pick up the pace now.

Unfortunately the same cant be said for my strawberry banana, I thought the yellowing was because she needed feeding, turns out it was the start of root rot, last grow I wanted to hang the plant whole so I got my buddy to saw through the trunk whilst I held the plant anyway he sawed through the net pot a bit, I didnt think anything of it as didnt look pierced but on closer inspection it was pierced and letting light in, she just hasn't developed to well and is tall and skinny and the 1st node just hasn't developed at all, I think I've fixed the issue now and she seems happier, new roots look good but they are underdeveloped but hopefully I can pull it back.

End of week 3
Been a decent week for both, Aventus OG continues to do well and the nodes are developing nicely, roots continue to look good but I need to watch the N as her leaves are starting to claw a little even though I've only given 0.25ml/l of A&B so it must be the N in the calmag so I have dropped the calmag for this week to see if she lightens up a bit.

Strawberry banana is in recovery mode and she has bounced back pretty good, just shows that even the tiniest light leaks can really fuck things up in DWC but glad I got it sorted out fairly early as the roots are doing all right now!

This is normally the part of the grow when I start hacking the plant apart, topping, taking off leaves etc but i think this time i am just going to leave them be for a bit and see how they develop.

Day 24
Got rid of the big fan leaves covering up everything, spread out the Aventus OG and topped the strawberry banana as she's a stretchy one but I'm sure that's cos of the shit start I got off to with her.

End of week 4
Aventus OG is starting to take off now I spread her out a bit and her leaves are not as dark or clawing anymore.

Strawberry banana is doing OK but shes a bit behind but looking pretty healthy none the less.

Both still only being fed at 200ppm but I'm going to bump that up to 400 on the next res change otherwise at some point there going to suffer some deficiencies on such a low feed as I'm only giving 0.25ml/l of A&B

End of week 5

Growth has been slow and steady if not spectacular, just did a res change and upped the feed.

Stripped both girls back 3 days ago and spread them out a bit and both seem to have recovered pretty well.

Probably got another 2 weeks till flip unless they have a growth spurt this week.

End of week 6 from seed

Not sure if it's because of the lockdown and I'm checking on the tent more often but it just seems like growth is slow.

Aventus OG is basically the same size as she was last week I think, been waiting for her branches to grow a bit longer to pull her apart a bit more but not really happening, maybe I started heavy defoliation to early and I also regret not topping her, maybe she's saving her energy for transition we will see.

Strawberry banana is doing well, I've pulled all the mains out now to the perimeter of the bucket so the centre can fill in, got some tip clawing going on, tried pushing the light to 45k lux and they didnt like it so turned it back down.

1 more week of veg and then flip I think.

Day 41 from seed

Flipped to 12/12 as I've ran out of veg nutes, would normally carry on through transition with veg nutes so will be interested to see if theres enough N for the stretch.

Day 9 12/12

Both doing pretty good and looking pretty healthy, not a huge amount of stretch and I maybe could have vegged another week longer but I always find it hard to judge!

Hopefully next week buds will be forming.

Day 20 12/12
Day 4 flowering

Finally both started flowering on Monday, snapped 2 stems on the Steawberry but taped them up and they've recovered just fine but leaving them alone now, will just give them a final haircut next week.

Just waiting on a driver and I will add another light into the mix as I measured my tent with the expando poles I use and they actually make the space 2.5ft x 4ft so 10 square feet and I've only got a 260W QB in there so going to add my other 260W kit and run them both at 200W so 40W square foot which should be alot better and also give me better coverage.

Day 26 12/12
Day 9 flower

Still waiting on a couple bits for my light, it took 2 days for my driver to arrive from USA but I cant even get the bits I ordered in the UK within a week SMH

Strawberry banana has pretty much filled 2.5x2.5 ft now and Aventus OG has been pushed into the corner a little so I really need more light now, come on postal service deliver my shit!

Day 14 flower

Buds seem to be developing nicely, starting to get frosty, sticky and stinky now, I feel like strawberry banana could be a fast finisher as pistils are starting to turn orange already.

Stretch is done now so just got to keep water levels topped up, PH and EC where it needs to be to keep them healthy until harvest.

Looks great, I think our crops were started right around the same time or very close to it. Stupid question.. does the official flower date start as soon as you switch to 12/12 or do you have to wait for buds to start developing and then base your schedule around that?

I switched mine to 12/12 on 4/28, so it's been 35 days - is my actual flowering time different? Reason I ask is because I see how you have yours laid out like this:

Day 79 from seed
Day 31 12/12
Day 14 flower

Thanks brother!

I would like to know the answer to your question also tbh, just makes sense to me to count from the start of flower formation as transition times seem to vary so much, I've had some transition in a week after flip and others 3 weeks after flip.

Apparently breeders estimates are based on from flip but mine always go roughly breeders estimates from when flowers form although estimates are exactly that so I dont try to keep to any schedules, there done when there done!

Cool man, I was just wondering that I as I was going through your thread here. Also, how often are you changing your buckets out for fresh nutes? I started with 4 plants in 5 gal buckets, but it was such a pain in the ass to stay on top of each individual bucket, changing my buckets out etc etc. I recently moved 2 of my shittier looking plants into a 27 gal tote as kind of an experiment. Hopefully it's a bit easier to maintain stable ph and I won't have to change out the water as often as I was with the buckets

I think I have done 3 res changes the whole grow so far, I only really change out the res if I have any issues or changing the feed formula, especially at this stage as there going through almost half the res daily so I'm just topping off.
