possibly because you use a mogal base with yours and the security light bulbs are reg base .. makes a difference in bulb design .. hey frmrboi how long do your bulbs last in your unit .. were they the "long lasting" ones ... i didnt find they lasted any longer then the normal ones did you ?

what do you mean "last" as still working or same lumen output ? it still works after about a year of 12/12 service whether the output is still the same I don't know.
A good starter light for people who don't want to deal with mail order or cfls.

mogul and reg???..all mh and hps use a mogul type its way toi big for any reg houshold set up
wrong again bro .. hps and mh use both ... anything less then 150 is med and anything over is mogal .. industry standard here in canada .. but you can get med base on other bulbs like a 250mh if you ask

ok well all the stock i have in my store in any form of mh or hps is all mogul. maybe stick with grow equipment to have the same.

LOL, not what I've seen here and the OP was interested in DIY ghetto grow style, not state of the art.

150w HPS comes in both mogul and medium base bulbs most of your "grow lights" florolux or whatever and HTG remote ballast "What i have" are mogul base and the majority of your security lights in 150w hps are medium base but there are some mogul base also if your doing it yourself im not 100% sure but i pretty sure you could just change socket size just get a replacement socket for HID and whatever size your after. But if i was you i would go 250w and higher and make the security light a cooltube by cutting two holes in two sides attaching ducting hang and now your security light is cooltube and if you do it right you could go up to a 400w and put it anywhere. 150w lack a giant line of grow bulbs and im having a hard time placing any most are the fat ones like pictured but i have placed a few grow style 150w HPS but nothing to special anyone have some good sources.
