what kind of car is it??
2001 hyundai tiburon. The past owner did some body work to it (but took off the after market front bumper *not happy*) when I got it it sounded good already, added a chip, CAI, and headers to give it a little more pep because it was weak in the lower RPMs. Now it's pretty good throughout, mainly 3500-5500 RPM. I never put it on a dyno but it feels like its a little over 200, maybe 250 horsepower now. It will sit and spin tires until they explode, and has amazing get up and go. About 65 mph in second gear, doing 55 on the highway if I want to pass someone quick I can drop it down and hit a 100 in about 2 seconds. It's not crazy powerful, but the car is so light it makes up for it. If it's at all windy you can feel the car getting tossed around lol. I'll have to take some pictures and maybe even throw up a video some time

and you said it was a 4cyl? that one have the 4g63 engine in it??
and idk man i have never been a huge tibby fan, last one i raced was pretty funny. i was cruising in 5th gear in my old 93 audi 90 quattro and a newer tibby pulled up next to me, downshifted, and took off. i stayed in 5th gear and just mashed it and passed him in about 4 or 5 seconds. i LOVED the gearing in that audi, 5th gear at 60 would put you about 3k rpm and on that v6 in the audi that was right where it started making power.

they aren't my fav either, and the newer tibs are v6 instead of a 4 banger. A lot of people who drive them are idiots, seriously. I can imagine an audi beating mine too lol! It's a 2.0 4 cyl. It's a five speed and I swear it should be a 6, maybe not stock but now it should be. 55-60 in fifth it is at 3000 rpm and that's right where I like to shift, drives me crazy. 55 is also the most common speed limit around here >< I can't mash it in 5th though, it'll go sure, but if I want the front end to pick up and the tires to slip I have to downshift to fourth, maybe even third for guaranteed tire slip. I just passed someone last night doing 35 in the 55, put it in third and hit it and I could feel the loss of traction immediately lol, thankfully it grabbed pretty quick. I'm not sure about the exact engine, let me look that up real quick...okay, it's a G4GF, at 1975cc stock, add in the mods (which made a huge difference, trust me) and I don't know what the cc is anymore. I would say, cut it in half and add that. The 4g61 is the 1.6L version at 1595cc stock

it seems the 1996 hyundais had it in them, elantras I think. I would hope mine can make more hp, but I'll never bother to mod it to that point. I was talking to my dad about doing more work to it but we decided if I wanted to start up a project like that vet I linked, I should go with a car with higher starting power and better handling/suspension. The suspensions so tight on this thing you can probably feel it when you run over a dime >< Makes the incessant potholes around here even worse.

lol no your engine will never be able to make that kind of power. the 4g63 is one of the only 4 cylinders to be able to make that kind of power. a lot of v6's cant even get to that lol. but i would start with something with a little more aftermarket.

So for those of you who know a thing or 2 about cars, which would you rather have? mk4 supra OR r33 skyline?

SUPRA

SKYLINE
View attachment 2506326
Which model of the r33??? and which modle supra??? ther are multiple r33s and a couple supras... one with an rb20det straight 6 single turbo 2.0l rear wheel drive, there is the rb25 2.5l straight 6 single turbo... then there is the GTR RB26DETT. 2.6L twin turbo all wheel drive with the attesa system 4 wheel drive at the push of a button. so you have the rear wheel drive like the supra but can grab all 4 when you need them. Supras and skylines cost about the same to build and you can get the same power out of both of them! My first car job was at fairlady motors in tacoma wa. I worked on a bunch of skylines, silvias and supras. Supras are good drift cars but not better than the skyline. then on the track the skyline dominates with it's 4wd..
Just look at youtube... supras get crushed all the time!

yea, racer, you and me both. im 6'4" about 240ish, no way in hell i fit in a supra. I can't drive a porsche either. i can't even do a corvette that comfortably... ever since i owned my first SUV some 10 years ago.. i haven't looked back since.. with the exception of one year, i treated myself to an Audi A6 Turbo.. she was a beast.
I'm 6'4 between 160 and 170. I fit in skylines just fine!!!

You cant touch the 4wd off the line then the driver can turn it off so he doesn't get the 4wd power loss and keep is top end

It's down to how they are built and if the driver knows what the hell they are doing.
