Main question: What is the deal with the purplish stuff i see on my outdoor plants? Is it good or is it a mold or something? People stole my largest 3 plants, the largest of which was straight purple but wierd looking. I am really hoping its mold and those f'ing thieves cough a lung up.

So the other day I went out to my grow spot which i wont go into much detail about. I had 12 female plants some of which were pollinated due to my budy not cutting down males while i was away. I also threw some clones out there from my indoor plants and they were actually doing well. Also cloned some of the out door plants indoors and brought em back out. They were all from middies bag seed. So the plant with the largest Cola had like purple weed that didnt look appitizing. Last year when i grew i had experience the same thing, but it was on the smaller skimpier plants. Does anyone know if this purpling is a good sign or is it caused by mold or some bugs? I went out to my spot at night and discovered hundreds of slugs munching of the fan leaves. So I put out diatamacious clay and copper around the stalks to precent that. Also i hand mixed soil and hand cleared the area of weeds and brush. I had to hike the soil a few miles into the woods in garbage bags in May when i first planted. I PUT A TON OF WORK INTO THIS. I would spray neem oil and deer repellant like 2x a week.

So just last week my buddy and i went out to the spot and 3 of the largest plants were completely stolen. Most likely by one of my hundreds of neighbors. So we panicked and harvested the rest of the plants which looked decent at the time, but deffinetly premature. Now that they have dried for a few days like 7 or 8 plants add up to an ounce or two dry. If we only had a few more weeks to flower we could of had POUNDS! SIGH, so guard your outdoor crop. You dont want to have people stealing your 5 months of work in the blink of an eye. Its like a gamble I could of let the plants stay and grow instead of panicked and harvested, but then I risked not getting anything do to the thieving people who stole my largest buds. Sigh. Anyone experience anything as horrible as this? Last year my outdoor plants were even bigger and got destroyed by a flood. I dont see how people can grow successfully outdoors. There are way to many variables.

your question about the purpling is simple. at one point it went below feezing or very close to it. there is nothing wrong with the bud i dont think. but when it drys it usually looks like one shitty ass nug. and a comment on your complaining about your plants getting stolen... do your homework before you plant man duh. obviously if there are hundereds of neighbours chances are some smoke weed and go cropping. its easy to do that and make an easy buck or some smoke

Ya I did get a chance to take any pictures this time though I do have some pics from last years crop which got destroyed in a "flood" or stolen not quite sure since all were gone and they were uprooted. This time the people only took 3 out of like 12 and just cut the largest Cola's off of those 3. Strangely last year I had less plants and the Cola's were all much larger than they were this year at the same date.

I do not believe the temperature went below or near freezing since its been hot out all summer and the buds formed like last month. So I dont think the cold caused the "purpling" though i could be wrong. Especially since only the one plant was effected.

I know that it is very hard to grow outdoors and i actually did a ton of homework into finding that spot. I had spots that were less obvious but then deer would end up eating the plants in those other spots or the light was not good enough. Last year I tried about 8 different locations. Only 2 of which produced big buds.

A stealth security camera would be awsome.

Thanks for the replies.

Here are some pic's from last year. the buds were better b/c they werent seeded, and you can see some purpleing on one of the bushy plants nugs.
The real big nugs are the main Cola's of plants that are like 6-8ft tall. The bushes had skimpier nugs.

Mind you all this was washed away in a flood after hurricane came up the coast "sigh"

Good outdoor grows hide there shit in the most fucked up places rippers and cops won't go or even think about looking. Find a better spot and keep your plants shorter. Take a look at what successful growers do and learn what you can.

im sure everyone getting they weed jacked is a seasonal thing. and lets face it, when the people look back on the grow, Im sure they can find a few things that need to be changed to enhance security. Buster 420 hit the nail on the head. its a learning experience, I just hope people actually learn from it.

Outdoor growing is very simple. The trick is to pick a place that no one wants to walk through and plant your shit there. For example pricker bushes are an outdoor growers best friend. Its very simple logic. Pricker bushes also prevent deer from getting your shit so your killing 2 birds with one stone.

hey man that sucks bad that your shit was ripped

and since no one has touched the issue
the purple mainly comes from genetics altho sometimes the cold does bring the purple out and dont let anyone tell you any diff. ever hear of g13 ??????

Yes I have heard of G13, but where i live the closest ive come to actually smoking named marijuana was my trip to Amsterdam and the named seeds i ordered from The Attitude seed bank.

I guess genetics does sound correct. Only thing is i cant imagine the random bag seed having purpling properties. Also I have grown indoors a few times and never seen any purple from my random bag seed. Only out doors.
