hey smoke.... you can grow plants with that light.. and you can learn a lot.. you will need to keep the light about 1 inch from yourplants once they are a few days old (5-7days).. and then raise the light as the plants get taller.. YOU will need to make SURE you flower VERY VERY early.. you DO NOT have the pwer to sustain a tall PLANT... this is KEY to your success..

cheers mate

the 8 bulb 4' fixture will give you equivalent to a 600watt hid. the four bulb will be great for vegging. If you are going to try and flower with it, leave two of the blue bulbs in and get two red spectrum to replace the other two when you switch to 12/12 light cycle. VV

are those the ho t5s if not you might want to get the high output, more efficient.

i have a 4' 4 bulb T5,

i'v only used it for seedlings so far, and it seems to work great, some streaching early on, but still is a great light i think.

one complaint i have though is the heat,it does put off a large amount of heat, not as much as a low wat HID, it is more than what you would expect from a flouro.

peace

I am actually a fan of T5 and T5ho... strangely enough High Output t5's are LESS EFFICIENT than standard t5's. When stating efficiency I mean lumens per watt.

Standard t5's top off at 104 lumens per watt at around 28watt mark.

T5ho top off at 95 lumens per watt with specific brands and most are less than 95 lpw.

Wonder what overdriving a t5 would cause it to output?

thanks guys. garden knomb how early are we talking for flower? will this still give me good buds? i know it depends on other factors aswell but this wont give me sum crap stuff even if everything else is excellent will it? and yer these are the t5ho bit gay that there less lumans than just t5 but owell. think extra heat will do my room good as it is in the shed and winter atm so prob only 15 degress out there.

i believe the ho have a better plant light spectrum then the normal t5s that is why hydro stores carry the ho.their is an article in a fish aqarium form about overdriveing t5s just google it.
