tap for res?

can i use my tap water for my res? 123ppm.

Depends on what kinds of crap you have in it (ie chloramine, chlorine...) but it's generally better to use RO.

123ppm @ 0.5 conversion from EC is acceptable however if you experience pH fluctuations you should get a RO filter.

That will work fine.

what about distilled?

That tap water is fine in most cases it is good to use ro water and add back 200 ppms of tap water.

distilled water has no pH buffers and most that have used it face huge pH issues and deficiencies.

Go with the tap water. If it's drinkable there shoudn't be any problems.
A grower would be better to go with a bottled spring water for res over RO or distilled in the event that the available water source is unacceptable.

I have been using city water for years.. My city water is about 75ppm and I have never had a problem with it.
