Temperature Problems

Hey there,

I have 3x 600 watt lights in a row lined up all hanging the same height.

They are about 35 degrees celcius where the plants are and I have no way of making it cooler.

Will 35 be too hot?

I can turn the ballast down to 3oo watts per lights which would probably drastically reduce temperature

Better to leave 600 watt at 35 or go to 300 at 25 degrees?

Total is 18oo watt for about a 4x6 space and about 5-7 plants. Thanks!

For efficiency's sake run 2x600 at full power rather than 3x but throttled back. That, or take the hit and install active cooling! Jmo. cn

light + inline fan + venting/ducting heat from lights out + oscillating fan blowing over tops = roughly 5-8 deg Celsius of lower temps if not more if at least 500 or more cfm powered fan

set up like this if narrow 3 light space...

light>>>light>>>light>inline fan blowing hot air out of grow space...

>>> = ducting whatever size may fit light fixture if you have that option for your hoods to vent...

if no venting possible then go with 400watts a piece cause 400x3 at 1200 watts of light for 6 plants should be plenty ;)

I installed an a/c but even when its set to max which is 17 it's still like 35 where plant tops are and that's with the lights 2 ft away. I have 2 18 wall mounts and an 24 inch oscillating with fan blowing on the plants so is it cooler then the thermometer reads? I figured it would be better to do 2x 600 instead of 3x 400 because the plants all fit under two lights also the total rooms size is 4x11 ft

And if I go any closer with the lights it's 45-55 celcius the room where there are no lights is about 24 do it's just the radiant heat from the lights making that spot so hot can i get a cheap heat block that doesn't effet lights? I also have two ventilation fans pulling hot air out and the a/c replenishes it with cold air. But I don't want to spend more on light ventilation tubes. Also anyone know a site that sells those ventilation tubes that you put over your lights?

Bulbs with hoods that deflect for cooling I have fans mounted in the roof for outtake and an air conditioner that's it. Nothing hooked up to the hoods of the lights

Im lookin for websites with air cooled hoods or vents that I can hook up to my hoods I already have fans that i can tape venting to

Air-cooled hoods (closed, glazed, actively ventilated into somewhere else) will remove 75% of your problem imo. cn

I bought *this one* but from my local retailer. Not cheap, but worth it imo. The reduced operation of the AC will amortize them in a grow or two. I also paired it with a 6" MaxFan, which on its lowest setting is beyond adequate, and should do just fine for three in tandem. cn

Thank you for your help mang. Also I have an auto watering system setup with soil for m plants do you think just under half a gallons per plant every three days Is good or should I let them dry longer or give the. More water?

Also should I get the vents that go over the light bulb like clear glass round tubes or something or just air cooled vents?

even 2 house fans might help with controlling the heat in the meantime. just place 1 fan at the end of your grow and the other venting out of your room somehow. i mean it'll be cheaper than buying a cooling system not as effective but will def knock down the heat to something reasonable. and also most people have house fans laying around anyways. good luck man!

if you can't control high temps in winter what makes you think you can grow any other time of year? idk how people are having high temp issues my temps are 50-60 and thats with 2 400w superlumens

I am haveing the same problem at the moment with my tent. I have a similar setup as you, with 1 less light and 2 less feet in length. My lamps are vented hoods, ducted through an inline fan which goes through a phat filter and dumps it back outside my tent which is a steady 24 C .My AC in this outer room is a split on the wall and I have run some 150mm flexi duncting from the head unit to another inline fan dumping the cold air back into my tent.Very rough I know but had no choice. The air coming out the vent into my tent is under 20C but under the lamps on top of my plants is about 33C. I have the hoods as far up as they can go but its still to hot.I am also running CO2 so I know I can get it a bit hotter than normal but still think this too hot??The reason I am not venting hot air outside is that the temps where I live get to about 45C during the day and high 30s at night .So there is no point as air coming back in will be hotter anyway.
