There are variances in color in the same strain of fish. I've seen rainbows that have almost no color to them that live in big lakes. I guess being reflective is their camouflage in big waters.
Doesn't get any better. Years ago,my wife went fly fishing for bookies every Sunday morning ( at Wild Cat Hollow). She always brought me back three for Sunday brunch. I'd eat then like corn on the cob. Yum-fing- yum.
Def not rainbows but beautiful trout fo sho. Guessing brook
Over here we have rainbows and their sea going brothers and sisters. Same strain with an asterix.
Yes, i forget who it was who i was arguing this with but there are different sub species of rainbow trout. Those pics you showed def are not though.
We have for example eagle lake rainbows. 100% rainbow trout but different from your average rainbow
anadromous rainbow trout ARE steelhead as defined by fish and game here and when the hatcheries release those little fishes you can tell they were steelhead brood PERIOD. (@raratt they look more like the other strain in Shasta, the pit strain. i forgot who the hell was i arguing this about before? Can’t remember
Was it @raratt who informed me they stocked eagle lake bows in my lake here? They usually stock extra chinook but they been running low. Gonna be interesting this summer. This lake doesn’t really support every type of salmonid because of the bait fish. Shasta and Berryessa yes. They got threadfin shad as primary bait fish. Lake Oroville doesnt
@raratt
Shasta Kings are back.
Kokanee back.
Bows, and browns on fire of course. Why the fuck did i move even further away.
You can catch 5 bows(oor mix bag browns) AND 5 of the other salmonid(salmon kokanee or kings) in there per license.
*verified by a guide who works with my brother and also takes the band Primus out to fish regularly
I was wrong. Brook trout is what was stocked. The pictures don't pick up as much color. The kids kept going though. View attachment 5468401 View attachment 5468403

Ok i’m just gonna call those fishes a sunfish
Over here it’s bluegill, crappie or perch all of them fall under the sunfish.bluegill has that dot but i dunno bout over there
