The Frustrating Multitude of Headband Cuts

Hi there all,

There's a lot of info on the various headband cuts spread around this and other forums. I was interested in compiling a list of known cuts in one location for others to find via search in the future. I'll begin with what I'm aware of, pending corrections and additional information y'all might be able to share? It would be nice to have a detailed description of each, and photos would make it a dang encyclopedia of headband. But that might be asking a bit much - the list is necessary because at dispensaries there's about 20 headbands kicking around, lacking a story on origin 1000% of the time... Most are just straight up fake unfortunately.

#1. Notsodog's LA Kush, the cut that circulated in LA as headband, OG dominant

#2. Notsodog's "other" headband, east-coast origin?

#3. The 56-day headband, used by Bob Hemphill, Duke D, SkVa

#4. Loompa's cut, underdog og relabeled

#5. Orginal Diesel, mislabeled

#6. Daywrecker, mislabeled

#7. 707 headband, a reproduction

#8. Reserva Privada headband, a reproduction

Help me add detail, and to identify the circulated cuts I'm missing. I know there is one that goes around Humboldt that isn't the 707, but I don't have any suspicions. I would describe it as having an obvious relationship to chem, it is similar to the 91 in bud structure.

Wouldn't it be lovely to just be able to access all the cuts and grow them out?

Anybody a big podcast person? I'm sure notsodog has given details on his cuts, but it isn't Google searchable lol and I don't think I'm gonna slog through a ton of hours of listening to hit ten seconds of headband discussion... But if anybody can reference me to a particular episode, or on the Dunn guy's show, or the pot cast, wherever. Wanna know bout that headband. Alrighty thanks in advance everyone for your input.

I currently have 6 HSO 707 headband in flower. The one that's far enough along to be able to smell is reminiscent of the headband I'd get several years back.

I love some headband and too would love a cut of some real deal headband.

Notso la kush is not og dominant and does not circulate as headband. Its is la kush and should be called that, nothing else.

Quoting Dr. Panda, "Yes this is supposed to be more in the diesel side of the family. Notsodog and meangene both have it. It was used to create rootbeer. Its the least spread around "headband" as far as I know with a few people having her. But it sounds like the headband we have all be looking for."

Can you tell us more about your experience with a hybrid of this plant, leading you to describe it as diesel-adjacent?

2 cents... the amazing headband from norcal that i saw about 10 years ago was very dieselesque... fluffier with larger bracts than the denser og stuff i was seeing from there around the time. best outdoor ive seen probably and ive seen a lot... my buddy who grew it said it was the best outdoor he had grown quality wise, however he was only getting 2 units each versus some others that put out 10 per plant, thusly he never grew it again :(

So after talking to notso a bit about my hyrbid I got a little peak into what traits are the la kush. It should be noted that he prefers to call it la kush and we should try to keep things clean and not call it headband.

The hybrid im currently growing is leaning on the la kush side heavy, you can see it has a more diesel like structure to it and is probably going 12 weeks. Notso said it had the look of la kush but the thickness of tk bud.

These pictures were taking mid week 9
I'm on about 10 now. Heavy oil rag, burnt rubber , gas profile. Was personally looking for a pure diesel smelling plant but this is enjoyable.

I remember seeing headband around in the southeast around 2010 and probably a little earlier. It was similar to sour but smaller buds and a little less larfy than sour. It had an awesome, not too couchlocky high and I always thought it kinda smelled buttery with the sour d smell. I mainly saw it at music festivals and around that kind of crowd.
I remember people saying it was a sour x og cross, but of course can’t confirm.

The best representation I had was a Loud Seeds female seed pack that I found a straight up beauty. I passed the cut around and people renamed it Puna or called it Headband when I would just call it Loudband cause it isn't the OG cut.

I know dude at the realstinkbank has the 707 headband cut but I really wanna see if I can locate my old one and get it going again. Something about it just hit you in the face right around the eyes and didn't knock my ass out for the night but kept me floatin.

Wow perfect! Thank you that cleared up so much for me. So the "LA Kush" cut came from Mandelbrot and is difficult to distinguish from a sour cut. Notsodog feels that it has a chem parentage. Then the 707 is a daughter of the la kush. I wonder if the one I'm reminiscent of was probably one of these two cuts, since what I saw in it was chem parentage...

I really was way off track, that was helpful.

Yeah, sounds like notsodog feels it could be something like super skunk x Chem91

I signed up just to respond to this thread. That 56 day headband aka no. 3 is probably the strongest pot I’ve ever smoked. It’s soaring, narcotic and extremely euphoric - an extremely non-functional all around stone. My friend in BC got the cut from an old head in Cali who’s friends with MrBobHemphill. After blowing through a quarter pound, I gained almost zero tolerance to it. It’s my desert island weed!

I wish I was as knowledgeable on strain lineage and breeders as some of you. I find it all fascinating. I wish there was a documentary about it.

I also love headband.
