The Frustrating Multitude of Headband Cuts

I do have to update on CSI Notso HB x TK, the second run of the keeper and another one that may be as well. They have a much more gassy smell to them this last run, very sticky, and I'd recommend running a pack to find something OG or Headband like in seed form.

The 707 from HSO was more of garlicky gas.
My csi headband x Chem d is all diesel and garlic with the nice structure of the headband. Really big thick chunks without the necrosis in the leaves.

You guys should try Bandog from Crickets and Cicada Seeds. It’s Headband (the 56 day OG like one I posted about before) crossed to 91 Chem skva x PNW HP/NL1. Bob and Hanna are rocking some tight Headband crosses.

Here is the real deal Headband. The Loompa Headband is close but this one is better. This plant came in 2004 and was supposedly OG Kush x Diesel x Master KushView attachment 5277138
Some used to think 707 Headband was OG x Master x Sour D but it’s actually bred by Mandlebrot and is something different from what I remember. I wish I could remember the exact make up. Why do you say this is better then Loompas Headband?

The real Underdawg was bred by Weasel and was chem91 x mss x NL. It was also called Headband. Thats the original.

All the others whether it's the LA cut, the 56 day'er, Loompa's, the 707 etc. They're are all renamed or rebred sour/og cuts.

Dogwalker was bred by OneEye and is a completely different Albert Walker, chem cross.

This confusion comes from people like Loompa appropriating already established names in order to profit. Simple.

Is that Weasel Underdawg the same cut as Original Diesel?

According to JJ, yeah. Underdawg = Headband = Original Diesel. Chem 91 was also changed to "Diesel" when it hit NY as well. And this is why, again, so many people are confused and I dont blame them.

I dont know if JJ really knows the true lineage of Sour Diesel, as he claims, but there's no doubt in my mind it's clearly a Chem 91 hybrid. He also claims to know OG's lineage but I dont buy it. He says its a chem 91 S1 and I dont think so.

Either way the real Underdawg/Headband is long dead afaik. Anyone claiming to have real Original Diesel or Underdawg is incorrect. Theyre looking at ECSD and sour/og hybrids.

The older guys on the beach that brought me in had what they called just Diesel and the guy who was from NY who brought it down called it NY Diesel. He brought it down in ‘97. I loved that stuff. Then in the middle of ‘99 he brought back what he called Sour Diesel. Within a year or so that’s all people wanted, but a lot of them just wanted the name too. I liked the one they called Diesel or NY Diesel more myself, but people buying definitely preferred Sour D. Got annoying when that’s all people wanted and you couldn’t move other really nice headies. Idiots would pay more for Sour D and pass on stuff just as good or better constantly, at least in my opinion.

Yeh there's something about Sour D that hooks people. Look at the popularity it had in the mid 2000's with Rez. People were paying thousands for packs and everyone had to have it. Everything had to have Sour in it before cookies came along. But others like Karma have kept it going. It's just one that never seems to go out of fashion for long and is a component in so many popular hybrids.

I agree with you tho. There are better varieties.

I grew 707's headband in 2015/16. It was pretty awesome

Was a feebie that i didnt pay a whole lot of attention to, and wish i had revegged or cloned... One of only two plants i have that remorse about over 20+ years

I think you can still get clones of the 707 Chem from dookie farms

From 2008 til now I've had a really top tier street dealer that had it mailed but always had the legit shit. Everything always matches the only leafly, allbud etc...anyway I have saved seeds ever since because it's always the fire...label it, store it in a tackle box forget about it.

I have one seed pack labeled 808 headband. I remember the bud very clearly. Diesel but not so shitty with leaf...very gassy potent smoke...in the 120 a quarter days it was that 120 maybe even 130 if the right sucker came along. I looked it up thinking at first that it was 707 mislabeled but allbud has it listed as a legit headband, the 808 headband that is...wonder what's the deal on it, and where it sits amongst all the other versions?

I had one germinated in January but it died...sent another out to a friend in NYC....he is going to grow it eventually, have 1 or 2 more of the beans....maybe some old school fire in there I suppose...

But weed was that gas on point with sour d, girl scout cookies, platinum bubba, Master kush, Deadhead og or any of those type strains that was the loud shit of those days

This is the first time I read something that make sense on headband and I’m glad u have the knowledge to tell the difference between a Og cut and a diesel cut ..707 is a grail for me I’ve been chasing it for a while

I feel like it’s dead or something bc it’s no reason people would still grow sour d or hybrids with that headband floating around it’s was better in terms of smell and flavor more consistent..the sour is classic but that headband was better

Hi there all,

There's a lot of info on the various headband cuts spread around this and other forums. I was interested in compiling a list of known cuts in one location for others to find via search in the future. I'll begin with what I'm aware of, pending corrections and additional information y'all might be able to share? It would be nice to have a detailed description of each, and photos would make it a dang encyclopedia of headband. But that might be asking a bit much - the list is necessary because at dispensaries there's about 20 headbands kicking around, lacking a story on origin 1000% of the time... Most are just straight up fake unfortunately.

#1. Notsodog's LA Kush, the cut that circulated in LA as headband, OG dominant

#2. Notsodog's "other" headband, east-coast origin?

#3. The 56-day headband, used by Bob Hemphill, Duke D, SkVa

#4. Loompa's cut, underdog og relabeled

#5. Orginal Diesel, mislabeled

#6. Daywrecker, mislabeled

#7. 707 headband, a reproduction

#8. Reserva Privada headband, a reproduction

Help me add detail, and to identify the circulated cuts I'm missing. I know there is one that goes around Humboldt that isn't the 707, but I don't have any suspicions. I would describe it as having an obvious relationship to chem, it is similar to the 91 in bud structure.

Wouldn't it be lovely to just be able to access all the cuts and grow them out?

Anybody a big podcast person? I'm sure notsodog has given details on his cuts, but it isn't Google searchable lol and I don't think I'm gonna slog through a ton of hours of listening to hit ten seconds of headband discussion... But if anybody can reference me to a particular episode, or on the Dunn guy's show, or the pot cast, wherever. Wanna know bout that headband. Alrighty thanks in advance everyone for your input.
Cali connection has 818 headband

I have had one called 808 headband. No not 707...no not 818...that's not a typo, it was 808. 808 headband is recognized by allbud. There is also an 808 genetics out of Hawaii maybe whoever owns that could shed some light on it.

The 808 was by far the best I had...mind blowing spacey weed...nearly psychedelic. I think it may have been Hawaiian grown...I've heard others say that Hawaiian grown is a different animal due to environment but I don't know for sure...
