Here I go w/another "state of things" rant which I commit to this thread. I work at a golf course, same one 23 yrs. Every Dec. I get laid off for lack of work,in other words I'm a seasonal worker w/a guaranteed return to work date. Therefor I collect Unemployment for that period.Despite the fact that I return to work every spring and have never run my benefits out or applied for a extension the agency in that state expects me to apply for 3 full time jobs per week.In the past 23 yrs. on occasion I've had to submit work search logs or go to the agencies headquarters. I've told their agents that I'm still tethered to my employer in the winter as I still pay my health ins. copay and that I'm virtually incapable of being hired unless I lie on applications regarding my job status(if I file an application stating I'm going back to my job in 2-3 months it's a waste of their time). If I lie and get a full time job only to leave in a month or two I'm littering my employment history and burning bridges in the event that I really need a job in the future. WHAT GIVES? DON'T THEY UNDERSTAND THIS. Since I don't live in the state I work in there have been times I've gone to my states Career Center in my city and registered there to satisfy these people and when I discuss this situation w/ them they say they wouldn't bother me if that were to occur in their state. It's a complete joke IMO and I have to participate in this BS charade, not only that ,I'm compensated at about half the rate of my take home pay,so in other words I'm not having a FKN party here,in addition to the fact that my employer pays into this unemp. claim. In another eg. last yr. I got a letter stating that I've been selected to participate in a online virtual recruiter meeting,in the letter it stated I would be exempt w/a ret. to work date. I called the# listed and left the message that I had a ret. to work date and left my bosses phone# and employers address to verify the info. The next day on my ans. machine a terse message states that this is a mandantory prog. and they will stop my benefits if I don't partake. I end up calling the call center and talk to a agent who told me to call back and say I've spoken w/her and also leave my social sec# which I didn't initially do because I wasn't sure if this was a real DLT program or a subbed out agency. I do this and get a call saying I'm all set, while I've got this guy on the phone I ask him how this program hit on me considering they have my 23 yr. history in their system and what kind of algorythims they use. The guy laughs and say's it's 100% random and I'd laugh if I saw the age of their computers,GREAT. This is another eg. of the BS these days,Isn't this system in place to help people who REALLY need a job?Wouldn't a computer system pretty much leave me alone w/a 23 yr. history in place. Why don't they hunt down all the Corona virus fraud that occurred(estimated at 30% of claims) and leave honest people alone(I've never screwed them under the table ever and always complied w/IMO the BS and anxiety they can cause). When working I grab all the OT offered and put aside for my layoff and get by on the slightly more than 50% payout on my claim vs. my take home pay. No employer wants to hire and invest in workers who will be gone in 2-3 months,it's a waste of their time and lying to get a job only to shortly leave isn't fair to them and definately leaves me a lot to explain should I really need a job in the future. What doesn't this DLT agency not understand here, they act like it's THEIR money when employers(including mine) fund Unemp. ins, what a joke and just another eg. of BS buerocracy.
The State systems are antiquated and many lost millions during the pandemic when so many applied they had to just give it to you and check it later.

Those millions went to places like Russia and China, they all have a hair now and put you through the most unimaginable hoops to jump through for a few dollars.

It's not you.

^ I think this is a good thing. Amazed a former PM would take the role but that's awesome news for the pacific region and East West relations.

They are locking this guy up a lot faster than they are locking up maga republicans...

Trump headed up a massive wire fraud for the stop the steal lie, that involved hundreds of millions of dollars, stealing from poor weak minded victims. The people who lost money with this guy were speculators playing a dangerous overhyped numbers game that they did not understand, they did not practice due diligence either in dealing with this so called "exchange".

These days my stereo consists of a quality tuner amp and a pair of Paradigm Phantom speakers and that's it, everything is streamed via bluetooth from a phone, tablet of the home network, MP3 and 24 bit FLACs for quality. No physical media players, if I don't have it, I can stream it online, I have a portable HD gathering dust with 5000 albums on it from my USENET music collecting days. I collected FLAC files and converted them to the highest quality MP3s, but still hung onto the FLACs. If Bob Marely farted into an open mic, I probably have a pirate recording of it somewhere! Where to begin with all the Beatles stuff, gold disc remasters discs, European versions, later remasters etc. For the car a thumb drive plugs into the stereo with a lot of albums on it, then there is my phone... I'm not even a great listener or collector of music, not even a big music fan...

So you have no capability for analog playback?

That would be like sonic hell for me

Not since the dual turntable went years back, 24 bit FLAC does a pretty good job, if mastered from the originals, 16 bit CD originals are a write off for audiophiles. It depends on circumstances, MP3 is good enough for background or even in the car, but I have pretty good speakers in there too. The main problem I have these days is not with tech, it's hearing the difference as I age into decrepitude!
