The Main-Lining Thread

After breaking off one of my 2 main leads during initial bondage, I'm seeing how much of an art there is to this method. I've also been livid with myself for 2 days over it, what dumb ass manages to do this?

So I'm now wondering, if the remaining lead continues to get mainlined, is it still all the same? Will each top still get treated evenly? Or does this somehow throw off the hormone balance of the plant now making it think that it's a single cola structure with side branching?

Geez, don't be so hard on yourself. You should give yourself a lot of credit for trying this. I bet Nugs himself has snapped and split many a main branch also.

Id say in my experience the best way to avoid splitting is starting early of course when I first tried it out I was already late in veg so stems we're thicker and less forgiving. The next time around it gets easier. If it makes you feel better I did it recently to one of my Qrazy Trains in flower. Oops. But I misted her and then covered the opening with plastic wrap and zip tied the stem together. I don't even think she knew it happened from the looks of it.

hey nugs i gots a question for ya,

i put 1 of my mainline girls in flower 3 days ago, she was nice and even when i put her in, now if you look at here from the manifold the right side is like 5-6" taller then the left side, have you had this happen and how can i fix it so she is all even again ?

when i started mainlining this girl she was my first try at it and on the first step of mainlining i broke 1 side a little, and i patched her back together and all through veg she was fine and growing even on both sides.

now that she is in flower 1 side is really takeing off and the other side not so much, im guessing its the side i broke early on

On my first grow i'd killed 3/10 seedling and said i would never kill a plant again... On the next one i'd snapped tons (way too many anyway) of branches when i worked on my first L.S.T , then it was a fan that decapitated 2/6 branches from a BEAUTIFUL SourD i had vegged for two month...

What i'm trying to say is: "Shit happens" growing is a hobby -i know: i'm getting one harvest this year and i'm not taking the shit lightly BUT most of us arent paying the bills with the weed we grow that's what i'm saying- and eventhough we -as Nerd- like to take our hobby seriously trust me if i've took a few bjj class lightly you can have off days in the grow room :)
Cannabis is an amazingly forgiving plant, next time you snap a branch just stick it back by making a bandages just like you would treat a wound of your own, a simple trick that works wonder and i wish i'd known earlier on...

As other have said, props to all of us for implementing a technique that's gonna blow up soon enough!

Props to Nugs for sharing the shit and not being a "Gollum"!

Thanks for the support everyone! My newly half lined lady and I are definitely feeling the love.

Chalk it up to experience and next time I'll know to be a little more careful.

It takes a lot more skill and attention when the plants are older and the stems are woodier as far as pinching and bonding is concerned....the younger the plant, the more supple and takes bondage easier...that is why the process begins when it does....early.

Got some beans from my roomie last night, going to pop a couple and try my hand at ML. The strain is Super Sensi Skunk never herd of it so I am guessing it is one of his growers homemade strains. :)

Hey Nugs, I know you haven't grown Agent Orange or Deadhead OG but, I have SS question for ya. Using 7 gallon smarties how much SS do you think I should throw in with these strains? I think AO is a beast of a feeder, while from what I recall Deadhead is rather light according to someone else here on RIU I talked to awhile back. I'm famous for being wrong though.

I'm leaning towards 25% for the Deadhead, and maybe pushing 75% for the Agent. Thoughts?

Updates are looking dope, sir.

be careful with the agent and ss id go 50 at the most dont want to muddy up your flush with excess if she wont eat. dont know about deadhead but ive grown agent many many times and she feeds heavy but not as heavy as i think some people say i dont go over 1200ppm with em. but.......im always learning and so is everyone else. maybe try it(could end up with a giant) who knows!!!!

Anytime i run something i don't know much about, i just figure OG's, other kushes and indicas dom. strains are lighter feeders........A good rule of thumb with Sub's strains is 50% average across the board.....little less for indica dom. strains, and a touch more for sativa doms.....but one should always go light for the first run of a pheno, and have the ability to supplement if needed by watching the color of the plant throughout the cycles....always best to run light, than heavy...heavy will stress the plant, sometimes stunting if she decides to lock out, missing her full potential by a wide margin.....under feeding, you will may end up with a heavy fade, a slightly lighter yield, but extremely clean-tasting herb....with an accurate expression of terpenes.......i could go on and on.....

...so i guess to answer your question...if it were me, i would go 20% on the OG...and 40-45% on the AO........nugs
