That Oregon Breather pot does look nice. Much cleaner look than the cut-out Smart Pot handles. You not worried about a little light getting to your roots? Looks like you can almost see through it.

I've grown the best yielding and healthiest plants with those 7 gallon Oregon Breathers for flower.

Here are a couple more shots of the mainlined Mulanje:

Manifold (remember these are the neglected ones so they are a little off):

Tip:

I also picked up a new toy from Craigslist - a W-W Mulch Grinder:

I can't wait to start making nice piles of worm food! :)

Cheers,

Hey nugs, should I pinch the strong side of this one? I removed the fan leaf from the strong side and left the it on the weaker side. You are 1000% right about seedling vs clones, it's a lot easier to train a plant from seed.

These 2 are from seed. They are growing symetrical and faster than the clones. Thanks for all your advice. I moved my light up about 7 inches and set the timer for 4 hours of dark and plants really responded in a good way, mahalo bro!

I'm not knocking mainlining at all. It has it's place for sure. It's probably THE way to go for medical patients on strict plant numbers.

Day 12.......(prune for 4).....slight bondage, prune for 4 mains......make sure that each main has a nice big fan leaf under the axial stem to power it....notice i left some vegetation below.....i want that on for now, to help power the growing root mass.:leaf:

I'm going to give this a go. My veg space is quite a bit smaller than my flower room so they slight delay in time will actually work for me. I have a 7-8 week veg depending on how long it takes the bloom ladies to finish up and things get really cramped. Cheers!

Inspiring video. Activating the base soil only makes sense. We must have been lookin at the same stars last night nugs bc I made three batches of SS today and i introduced two new friends to it so I made them batches as well. I guess I will head back to the shop and cook my base soil as well. It's just roots though.

In my never ending quest to learn more, I ventured into Michigan State University’s Plant and Soil Sciences building. There I found a laboratory that tests the nutrient concentration of my soil. For only $11 you can test the Macro nutrients, N-P-K. However, for $25 you can get a test for N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Na, S, Fe, Zn, Mn, Cu, B and Al. I immediately decided to test my SS and a few other composts.

This process tests the total amount of nutrients, not the readily available nutrients present. For example Nitrogen is usually absorbed in the form, NO3, but can exist in other forms such as NH3 or NH4 until it’s decomposed by bacteria into something the plant can use. Most numbers are in % of total soil, others are in ppm.

My previous SS recipe follows Sub’s very closely. I use Roots Organic as my base with the addition of 4 lbs of Kelp Meal. I found it has a Ca and Mg deficiency which was easily corrected by adding some powdered dolomite before a watering. I didn't notice any other deficiency problems with my Agent Orange run. Slight fading in last 2 weeks but I like it. Used half SS half Roots Organic.

The cow, poultry and worm composts are from Morgan Composting, a local Michigan business who makes some great cow compost called Dairy Doo. The last compost is from another local Michigan business called Hammond Farms, who makes a plant based compost.

SS = 1.6 - 0.5 - 0.2

Cow Compost = 1.7 - 0.6 - 1.8

Poultry Compost = 5.2 - 2.0 - 2.8

Worm Castings = 3.2 - 0.6 - 3.0

Plant Compost = 0.9 - 0.1 - 0.4

Here are the original reports.

very cool, funny about the Ca....i add 1 1/2 x more dol. to my mix, and then gypsum.....i really believe the x-tra Ca makes a huge difference in growing re-bar-like cola stems.......right now i am trying to dial in my N, without using blood....so more EWC, N guano, and alfalfa meal.......going to the grow shop soon, to look at my options...
