The Official House and Garden Thread

Hi everybody,

Love HG, now in my 5th consecutive grow with HG. I haven't been on this forum page in awhile, but learned light years from this forum (thank you).

My question is: Are the Canadian charts for actual PPMs the same as in the US? There are several differences between the two charts US/CA. I really like the CA chart and the instructions/advice.
I understand that the composition is different in different countries. I started with Ebb/flow and switched to drip drain to waste and am back on ebb now and need to have a ppm guideline so I want know how to adjust water vs water w/ nutes. using PPM is a good ball park (and looking at your plant).

Is the Canadian Base nute the same strength as in the US? On week 4, for an 11 week strain, the ppms should be 1440 via the CA site. I'm adding H2O and nutes, just guessing, and I'm at 1000 PPMs. Ok Ok I haven't actually changed the res and won't till top booster. I'm working with 5-6 weeks on the same res (ebb/flo). Come top booster time (4 weeks away from harvest right?) I will switch to hand feeding fresh. Plants look perfect now but I want the max... duh.

Anyway, Any knowledge of CA and US charts and formulation's would be most helpful. Thanks!

Anyone growing Chocolope (DNA) or Cotton Candy (Delicious) ?

Did you find anyone using H&G growing Cotton Candy? Just got them in and will germinate next week or two so I am interested in how they handled the nutes and at what strengths?

This coming payday im runnin to pick up some soils AB, top boost, drip clean, magic green, bud xl, multizen, and the belovid Roots Excelurator. really looking foreward to what this line can do. so far ran technafloras line and a local hydro stroes line and have been hearing good things about this company. all of this will be used in conjuction with promix bx, with added worm castings, any input of this setup/choice of products. also for soils what do you usaully run with soils HG. been reading that their canna is more designed for a drain to waste and i dont have that capability in the spot im at now.

I had horrible luck growing Delicious Seeds Cotton Candy. Might of had a pretty weak seed but never showed any 5+ finger fan leaves after 5 weeks flipped so I chopped. Was getting alot of single finger leafs and undeveloped stuff.

  • I'm currently using Canna nutes, but decided to go with BudXL instead of the Boost.

Canna provides me with a feeding schedule online, so my question is do I use the BudXL the same time and same amounts as the Boost would? Or does the BudXL have a totally different schedule to use it?

you do realize this is a house and garden thread not the canna one.? as to your questiong look at their feeding sechudual for the budxl. and just add it into the canna line up either weay you start at 1/4 strenght or less anyways.

I do realize that, and since BudXL is a H&G product, I thought I would post my question here as well as the Canna thread ;) Thanks for responding.

after reading what i posted when i was high it seems to me i came off as a dick, my bad.

on house and gardens nutrient calculator, they dont start budxl till the 5th week, starting at 3.5ml/gal which is a lil high you can always use 1/4 or 1/2 and make it last longer, and they have it all the way to the end of flowering, so if you flush just stop giving it and you will be fine.

sorry for coming off as a dick.

from the H&G website:
Contrary to what you might have heard with other nutrients, never use an oxygen pump in the nutrient container or in the growth table. This may have serious consequences for the stability of the nutrients

Any DWC growers NOT use an oxygen pump? lol
I just started using h&g in by dwc its not a recirculating each tub has its own reservoir. I talked to a h&g rep and he said that it is fine to use air stones. They thought it would not be or something when they made the stuff but ended up being fine

Using H&G aqua flakes, R/O water, drip clean, bud xl, miltizen, dark energy, & shooting powder. Anyone use r/o w/ h&g ever need extra calmag? I have always added w/ other feeding companys but h&g doesnt offer a calmag and i dont want to mess w/ the npk ratio, or as little as possible. H&G rep couldnt really tell me for sure but I push my plants to their limits and am thinking I will need extra calmag. Any opinions?

Mr. Green Thumb - Yes I use CalMg and MagAmped in addition to the H&G base nutrients even though they say that their bases are corrected for R/O water.

ah hah! And as doing so that doesnt mess with the npk ratios? What is the npk of those two cutting edge bottles?

G.H has a new calImag I have been wanting to try. They say its a new clean formula compared to their last and wont clog systems. It only has a 1-0-0 instead of most 2-0-0 for calmag or Ive even seen 4-0-0.

My thing is most plants need that extra calmag late into flower so I wouldnt really want to give them to much extra nitrogen at that point. Aqua flakes already has plenty of N...

I haven't noticed either product messing with my NPK values but then again I don't test NPK, I go by looks. If it does change anything it must be negligible.

Botanicare CalMg+ has an NPK of 2-0-0
Cutting Edge MagAmped has an NPK of 0-0-0

there is a clear Nitrogen deficiency in veg from the start with only aqua flakes a+b with super lemon haze from seed

no choice but to get N27 booster

hello all, this is my first run with h&g.I'm in a 4*4tent ebb&flow system 40gal rez,1000Watt light.at this time I'm runningg13pineapple express. I'm not sure if shouldstick to h&g feeding chart or add bloom blastoff to it.it justseemsto goodto be true. I was usi

Does H&g really work? I'm so use to advance bytes and there 100 different bottls to buy that it scarers me to see only two things to use in bloom with h&g.I was thinking about adding bloom blastic to my rez so I thought I would ask other growers first.

I don't know where you got your information from but there are more than 2 bottles used in bloom for H&G. Here is what I use in bloom:

Aqua Flakes (or Cocos) A & B
Drip Clean
Roots Excelurator
Amino Treatment
Multi Zen
BudXL
Top Booster
Shooting Powder
Magic Green (foliar only)

You might want to check out their nutrient calculator: http://www.house-garden.us/nutrient-calculator/

Berkman gave a pretty good list of other H&G nutrients to use in bloom, however that is their (mostly) complete line he recommended.

Personally I use A&B, drip clean, multi zen (for the first 3 weeks) Bud XL (for the second 3 weeks), Advanced bud blood powder (for the first 2 weeks. this is simply for the PK boost, I believe the bloombastic you were refferring to is pretty similar, should help kick off flowering) Cal mag plus (ALWAYS 1/2 strength) and Hygrozyme(this is because I use soilless media)

Using just A&B together without drip clean will not only lead to deficiencies but to quick salt build up, especially in hydroponics and ESPECIALLY if your using tap water as well. The A&B alone is lacking in micronutrients so if you have a blend you like to use, use it.

OK family this is my run down.I'm in week 2 of flowering.doc a+b, advanced super bud blast to kick her off. Algen carboload sensiZYM ,PIRANHA,tarantula. I wanted to start her off with bud blood but child support came firstLOL.I am takingmy time with this one.I like the bloomblastic. That's stuff makes them look so good but 90$ a bottle I got to rethink my move.I will be adding the Co2in week 4 or 5 . I'm doing a scrog and she is nice and full

This run I used Mad Farmer M.O.A.B. for the first week to help induce flowering and reduce stretch. I don't think it did anything to reduce stretch but the flowers did seem to come in pretty quickly, but this is also my first time growing this strain so I don't have anything to compare it to.
