The risks I took were calculated. Boy I suck at math.

Lord love a duck. Yes, only composted manure (unless you count whatever was in the solo cup they were in when I got them)!! Think adding vermiculite might help in any way? Our rainy season is just starting. Minimum 2-3 days of rain per week.
That's probably part of your problem using ONLY compost lol

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Root rot is a concern because of the rain we’ve been having. Add the fact that the roots were fully exposed and endured a fantastic rain storm for a good 10 hours. I then hammered supports into the ground, probably damaging the roots even more. Not sure how much abuse a root system can endure before it loses it’s ability to draw in the nutrients. Hopefully more than I’ve put it through.
I'd guess strong if a plant can survive a split like this

10 days after I velcro taped up the split

Btw, I feel your rain pain. Been a terribly wet summer/fall 2021. Welcome to the wonderful world of outdoor growing!:)

Ok noo verm is not goin to help you...you really can't do anything...I would try to make sure the plant is supported so it doesn't break...using only compost can cause a array of problems ...I can't say whether you deficit or over fed it could be alot...like I said less is more...you can add more later but not the opposite you can always do full strength the feeding after... Id see when the first frost is coming start getting ready for harvest stake the plant if needed...carry on as usual you made it this far just keep an eye on the actual buds that plant is coming down soon anyway who cares about the roots...lesson learned you did great tho

Maybe later when you get time take some better pics of the buds and we can see about how much more time you got left In this thing

I love ducks lol

Next time do 1 part sphagnum peat moss (or coco coir) 1 part compost 1 part areation (pumice, rice hulls, perlite)

If you wanted to go organic living soil then youd add nutrients and minerals but that's another story

Theres truth in "too much of a good thing" all compost is no good

I should also mention that the roots keep popping up to the surface (both plants). I figured it was just the strain. Could they be trying to tell me something (like go back to growing tomatoes)?

Those roots are feeder roots they come up top to feed...it's normal and a good sign I would say top dressed with some worm castings but ehh that's up to u they look fine...you have a ways to go tho they look like sativa's so yea I say you got a good ways to go like atleast 5 weeks but honestly might be longer

I considered the milk spray. Looked in the fridge and noticed I was down to my last bag of milk. I looked in the cupboard and saw that I had lots of baking soda. Cereal and coffee for breakfast won the milk battle. I should have just gone to Timmie’s for breakfast. Hindsight is 20/20 I suppose.
As an American I remember the short lived existence of bagged milk in elementary school. Yes, the year was 2001 and we were watching the towers go down as 8 year olds on tv. But man, bagged strawberry milk was a genuine tragedy.

this is a bud from higher up on the plant. I’d say it’s a good 9’ tall. Had to pull out a step ladder to get that pic! The neighbours are probably asking themselves what the crazy woman next door is doing now! Would you still say I’m that far from harvest? I might not beat the first frost.

And yes those buds will get sooo sooo much bigger your probably half way through the flowering process....or like I said could even be another 5 weeks or more so you got a ways to go but your almost finished...just make sure you check with somebdy before you cut it...you don't want to short yourself those plants are massive...you will get a lot of herb off those

The buds actually look healthy...pay close attention to them after every feeding...I don't see where you said the main stem was leaning or broke that stem you showed me looked like a tree trunk lol I think you may be over thinking it slightly

Nope but why would an American or Canadian imply having to suffer through a yr of bagged milk was as you put it a genuine tragedy in comparison to watching the towers go down

They really should come up with a sarcastic font. It’s easy to misinterpret posts if you’ve never met the person and aren’t familiar with their beliefs or sense of humour. There’s always more than one way to say something. I tend to pick the wrong way 80% of the time so so apologize for anything I may have said and will apologize in advance for things I will likely say somewhere down the line. I assume most people are good. More often than not, if a comment seems off-side it just came out wrong.
