The state of the GOP

So. Does anyone want to talk about the other Wing Nut in this race? You know? The one that believes that Jesus showed up in the woods of New York State in the early 1800's with a new set of rules. Something like these. Remember when you read, that this guy wants to run the country.

[h=1]Steps In Overcoming Masturbation*[/h] [h=2]Anonymous author but attributed to Mark E. Petersen[/h] [h=3]Council of the 12 Apostles
(of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints)[/h] [h=3]

[/h] NOTE: This article is quoted as a reference in a much longer and more detailed discussion Masturbation and the Bible. Please see the full article for much more information on this subject.
[h=3]

[/h] Be assured that you can be cured of your difficulty. Many have been, both male and female, and you can be also if you determine that it must be so.

This determination is the first step. That is where we begin. You must decide that you will end this practice, and when you make that decision, the problem will be greatly reduced at once.

But it must be more than a hope or a wish, more than knowing that it is good for you. It must be actually a decision. If you truly make up your mind that you will be cured, then you will have the strength to resist any tendencies which you may have and any temptations which may come to you. After you have made this decision, then observe the following specific guidelines.
[h=3]A Guide to Self-Control[/h]
 1. Never touch the intimate parts of your body except during normal toilet processes. Avoid being alone as much as possible. Find good company and stay in this good company.
 2. If you are associated with other persons having this same problem, you must break off their friendship. Never associate with other people having the same weakness. Don't suppose that two of you will quit together, you never will. You must get away from people of that kind. Just to be in their presence will keep your problem foremost in your mind. The problem must be taken out of your mind for that is where it really exists. Your mind must be on other and more wholesome things.
 3. When you bathe, do not admire yourself in a mirror. Never stay in the bath more than five or six minutes -- just long enough to bathe and dry and dress and then get out of the bathroom into a room where you will have some member of your family present.
 4. When in bed, if that is where you have your problem for the most part, dress yourself for the night so securely that you cannot easily touch your vital parts, and so that it would be difficult and time consuming for you to remove those clothes. By the time you started to remove protective clothing you would have sufficiently controlled your thinking that the temptation would leave you.
 5. If the temptation seems overpowering while you are in bed, get out of bed and go into the kitchen and fix yourself a snack, even if it is in the middle of the night, and even if you are not hungry, and despite your fears of gaining weight. The purpose behind this suggestion is that you get your mind on something else. You are the subject of your thoughts, so to speak.
 6. Never read pornographic material. Never read about your problem. Keep it out of mind. Remember -- "First a thought, then an act." The thought pattern must be changed. You must not allow this problem to remain in your mind. When you accomplish that, you soon will be free of the act.
 7. Put wholesome thoughts into your mind at all times. Read good books -- Church books -- Scriptures -- Sermons of the Brethren. Make a daily habit of reading at least one chapter of Scripture, preferably from one of the four Gospels in the New Testament, or the Book of Mormon. The four Gospels -- Matthew, Mark, Luke and John -- above anything else in the Bible can be helpful because of their uplifting qualities.
 8. Pray. But when you pray, don't pray about this problem, for that will tend to keep it in your mind more than ever. Pray for faith, pray for understanding of the Scriptures, pray for the Missionaries, the General Authorities, your friends, your families, but keep the problem out of your mind by not mentioning it ever -- not in conversation with others, not in your prayers. keep it out of your mind!

[h=1]Yes, the Romneys Converted Mitt’s Dead Atheist Father-in-Law to Mormonism[/h] Gawker's substantial Mormon readership has come through for us: Two readers have sent us confirmation that Edward Davies, Mitt Romney's militantly atheist father-in-law, was indeed posthumously converted to Mormonism by his family, despite the fact that when he was alive he regarded all religions as "hogwash." UPDATE: Romney's brother-in-law responds below.

As I have read and often repeated, 'never underestimate the power of stupid'.

After reading your posts duchie I again have to ask myself, why is it that the supposed superior moral party of the GOP never ceases to amaze me as to how low they can stoop and that they are indeed only out for themselves and big money especially the military industrial complex. Maybe republicans will finally be happy when the military industrial complex causes the fall of the whole country with its spending, just like it caused the fall of the soviet union?

Decade after decade I just don't understand how the everyday republican can vote republican if they would only look at the facts. President Bush and his cronies drove this country to the edge of another great depression and yet after not even four years of a democrat in the oval office they want more. They are basically asking for another repeat of the Bush years by voting republican. Why is it that the average republican never sees this?

Because they only intake media that backs their thoughts, and they think the other media that disagrees is lying.

Same with the democrats. It's a stupid two sided tug a war and no one can handle the idea that their side isn't in the right.

People are sheep and will blindly follow. High ups are mighty smart and could do something about the problem... but they are making WAY too much money perpetuating it, so until they can make more money fixing the issues they will continue to divide and conquer/ profit.

I don't know if I'm in a better place, or worse, as I tend not to listen to, watch, or read anything involving current affairs. I feel as if it's better to get nothing compared to one biased side of a story. But I think if most people are a 1 (out of 10) I'm maybe a 1.5.

I try to do good in other area of life, as I know you do as well.

Don't forget that the entire religion of LDS was inscribed on secret golden plates given to Joe Smith by an angel. Only after translating the new egyptian language on the plates to english through the use of a soothsayers stone in the bottom of a hat and putting the hat over his face was he able to make any sense of it. As soon as he translated them he gave them back to the angel. prove they exist? prove they don't exist? Not the best way to start a religion IMO.

to be fair it seems to be a fairly consistent and successful way of starting a religion;)

One thing that I've noticed since I dumped my TV is all the new news sources that are available to me. There are some great independent new sources out there now. The big thing I like is my twitter feed. I've got it all lined up with my politico and news. I don't follow celebrities and that shit, and I don't even really tweet messages a lot myself but it sure is a great way to get all your news updates in one place, as well as the things that the people you follow retweet from those they follow, and that always leads you other ways. I'm getting older and I'm getting more and more fed up and I can't sit around much longer not doing anything. Spring is coming! hehe.

I just got into that twitter shit for the same reason. You can hear about cool shit that you don't hear any where else.

I think what's notable is Michelle Obama has 2 TV commercial ads running with USDA sponsorship for her "Lets Move" agenda. USDA is a government agency that funds loans for low income housing and now they tell us they lack the funds and put people on waiting lists. Michelle Obama's budget is 10 billion for her Let's Move initiative while many seniors, the disabled and low income families with children need affordable housing.

It's an irony that "Lets Move" encourages children to run around without them or anyone actually moving-in anywhere but only as in giving us all the run around.

Yes, half of them start with virgin births and resurrection, but nearly all of them believe in a all powerful man in the heavens whom we cannot see , but who knows everything we do. I laugh at the gullibility of people everyday.
