The United States of America?

I mostly agree with the commentary by that gentleman speaking at the end, when he says that it will take years for this country to recover, not from Covid, but the partisanship on display. I disagree with his opinion though that the anti-maskers/anti-vaccination morons should not be demonized.
Fuck that, demonize the shit out of those blathering idiots
They earned/deserve it.
No sympathy from me, none, nada, zip.

the best that can be expected is like what was done centuries prior..beat them back down under the rocks from whence they came..it's what has to be done every 100 years with this last 100 being the exception; almost like a drum beat, quicker and quicker. we've got 500 terrorists in jail; there were 9000 people at the Insurrection.

now is the time to hold then accountable once and for all.

What a fairy tail/load of shite that statement is, written by some wealthy old white land/slave owners in 1776 that is/was a fantasy
We've NEVER been United and if you have ever read American history, you would know that.(We did unite though in killing Natives, but that was easy)
Really, tell me how the fuck could we be ever be considered United?
From the beginning of this Nation, starting with the Pilgrims actually there has been religious intolerance as a divide, which has never actually gone away.
It used to be Protestants vs Catholics, Mormons had a hard time and the time honored favorite Religion to attack/vilify, the Jews.
Now the go-to Religion to hate is Muslim (we can all despise them/it right?)
Then we mustn't forget State vs State, starting in New England
Massachusetts vs Vermont/Vermont vs New Hampshire. No one bothered Rhode Island, everyone felt sorry for them :)
But, the most demonstrably obvious example of how divided we are (not were, are) was the Civil War, which to this day was the most costly war in causalities in American history.
We slaughtered each other, North vs South with gleeful abandon for four fucking years, all over slavery, to free the Black man.
That worked out well for the Blacks in this country, right?
After all, that made slaves/Blacks officially American citizens, and as this statement "All men are created equal" is included in the Constitution of the United States (I'm laughing hysterically now :) ), they're good to go right ?(ask George Floyd/ Oh, you can't can you because he was fucking murdered by a White cop)
So, here we are in 2021, just one Big Happy Family, right?
I mean adversity (Covid in this case, not a War for a change ) brings people together, that's the American way, right?
Well, that bullshit, at least the "United" States"/all men are created equal bullshit, has never, ever in the fucking History of this country been so obviously exposed as to what it is, pure, unadulterated BULLSHIT!!!!!!
We fucking hate each other.
East Coast vs West Coast/North vs South/Blacks against Whites & Whites against Blacks/ & everyone against those immigrants, those dirty, criminal minded job stealers & possibly Socialist/Communist/Muslim.
And now we have the COVID-19 & the Delta virus, which in theory should unite this country against a common threat.
But nope, the Reality of how divided/fucked up we are is on full display now.
Here is a map that's an example of how divided we are today, and the Great Divider is Republican's vs Democrats or Red State vs Blue.

View attachment 4952300

And the Genie that pulled out of the bottle all of the hate/awfulness of this Country and smacked us right in the face with it, was this motherfucker Trump, who today if he ran again for POTUS, would receive 97% of the Republican vote, which represents over a third of this Country,

Fucking great, huh?
what i'm looking forward to is the White Domestic Terrorism List. no guns, no flying, no passport, no voting, no living near schools or children..basically your life is over after jail.

Next division/divider in the USA that might be the most significant eventually, is income disparity.
Capitalism is a rather new economic system for the US starting in the the early 1800's, while in Europe it was widely used already.
I have always had a bad feeling about Capitalism in the sense that, especially in the US it will leave a lot of people behind, while a small portion of society gains the most. That could be a fatal flaw in my opinion, the long term consequence. Laissez-faire economics is a great sytem for a particular group or individual, fuck the rest. Greed is the basis of American capitalism

6 facts about economic inequality in the U.S. | Pew Research Center

Over the past 50 years, the highest-earning 20% of U.S. households have steadily brought in a larger share of the country’s total income. In 2018, households in the top fifth of earners (with incomes of $130,001 or more that year) brought in 52% of all U.S. income, more than the lower four-fifths combined, according to Census Bureau data.

In 1968, by comparison, the top-earning 20% of households brought in 43% of the nation’s income, while those in the lower four income quintiles accounted for 56%.

U.S. has highest level of income inequality among G7 countries
Among the top 5% of households – those with incomes of at least $248,729 in 2018 – their share of all U.S. income rose from 16% in 1968 to 23% in 2018.

Income inequality in the U.S. is the highest of all the G7 nations, according to data from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. To compare income inequality across countries, the OECD uses the Gini coefficient, a commonly used measure ranging from 0, or perfect equality, to 1, or complete inequality. In 2017, the U.S. had a Gini coefficient of 0.434. In the other G7 nations, the Gini ranged from 0.326 in France to 0.392 in the UK.

Globally, the Gini ranges from lows of about 0.25 in some Eastern European countries to highs of 0.5 to 0.6 in countries in southern Africa, according to World Bank estimates.

The black-white income gap in the U.S. has persisted over time. The difference in median household incomes between white and black Americans has grown from about $23,800 in 1970 to roughly $33,000 in 2018 (as measured in 2018 dollars). Median black household income was 61% of median white household income in 2018, up modestly from 56% in 1970 – but down slightly from 63% in 2007, before the Great Recession, according to Current Population Survey data.

Overall, 61% of Americans say there is too much economic inequality in the country today, but views differ by political party and household income level. Among Republicans and those who lean toward the GOP, 41% say there is too much inequality in the U.S., compared with 78% of Democrats and Democratic leaners, a Pew Research Center survey conducted in September 2019 found.

Democrats are nearly twice as likely as Republicans to say there's too much economic inequality
Across income groups, U.S. adults are about equally likely to say there is too much economic inequality. But upper- (27%) and middle-income Americans (26%) are more likely than those with lower incomes (17%) to say that there is about the right amount of economic inequality.

These views also vary by income within the two party coalitions. Lower-income Republicans are more likely than upper-income ones to say there’s too much inequality in the country today (48% vs. 34%). Among Democrats, the reverse is true: 93% at upper-income levels say there is too much inequality, compared with 65% of lower-income Democrats.

The wealth gap between America’s richest and poorer families more than doubled from 1989 to 2016, according to a recent analysis by the Center. Another way of measuring inequality is to look at household wealth, also known as net worth, or the value of assets owned by a family, such as a home or a savings account, minus outstanding debt, such as a mortgage or student loan.

In 1989, the richest 5% of families had 114 times as much wealth as families in the second quintile (one tier above the lowest), at the median $2.3 million compared with $20,300. By 2016, the top 5% held 248 times as much wealth at the median. (The median wealth of the poorest 20% is either zero or negative in most years we examined.)

The richest families are also the only ones whose wealth increased in the years after the start of the Great Recession. From 2007 to 2016, the median net worth of the top 20% increased 13%, to $1.2 million. For the top 5%, it increased by 4%, to $4.8 million. In contrast, the median net worth of families in lower tiers of wealth decreased by at least 20%. Families in the second-lowest fifth experienced a 39% loss (from $32,100 in 2007 to $19,500 in 2016).

Middle-class incomes have grown at a slower rate than upper-tier incomes over the past five decades, the same analysis found. From 1970 to 2018, the median middle-class income increased from $58,100 to $86,600, a gain of 49%. By comparison, the median income for upper-tier households grew 64% over that time, from $126,100 to $207,400.

The share of American adults who live in middle-income households has decreased from 61% in 1971 to 51% in 2019. During this time, the share of adults in the upper-income tier increased from 14% to 20%, and the share in the lower-income tier increased from 25% to 29%.

America terrorizes itself.
It’s become what it hates.
Hoping we can all get it together, soon.
I agree, the division between people is out of hand. Luckily all I have to do is turn the T.V. off and for me, it all disappears. I can't imagine what it must be like to live in shithole blue state, or in a shithole blue city for that matter.

Oh don't get it twisted, I watch (China News Network) CNN. I need a daily dose of comedy/propaganda everyday to start my day off right! My daughter was laughing so hard the other day she spewed milk out her nose, while we was all sitting around eating breakfast, watching CNN. She is a child and can tell the difference between facts and bullshit!

Give it time, a lot of mentally ill folks from the 'Red' areas of the country tend to get shipped off to a 'Blue' area since they tend to not do shit for their people who have a hard time.

I’ll be happy when the Delta variant takes you down. One less piece of shit in the world.
I had it early on in the pandemic. Popped a couple ivermectin and continued on working, didn't even take a day off work, as the hospital was pretty busy. At this point I'm completely immune, as I'm exposed to it all the time. Last test showed considerable antibodies still present, so covid can't touch me. Stop listening to political propaganda and wake up to reality. You're just a sheep to the elites and buying their bullshit, hook, line and sinker.

You didn’t have the delta variant early on but you make some great points. I’ve changed my mind about vaccines. Like a fool I’ve been listening to scientists and doctors when all I needed was the advice of a semi-literate, trailer park princess.

So you're actually dumb enough to believe, that natural antibodies against SARS‑CoV‑2, doesn't fight off the delta variant?

Where you born stupid? Or did you grow that way over time?

Trump urged Justice officials to declare election ‘corrupt’

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump urged senior Justice Department officials to declare the results of the 2020 election “corrupt” in a December phone call, according to handwritten notes from one of the participants in the conversation.

The notes of the Dec. 27 call, released Friday by the House Oversight Committee, underscore the lengths to which Trump went to try to overturn the results of the election and to elicit the support of law enforcement officials and other government leaders in that effort. Emails released last month show that Trump and his allies in the last weeks of his presidency pressured the Justice Department to investigate unsubstantiated claims of widespread 2020 election fraud, and the department’s inspector general is looking into whether department officials tried to subvert the results.

“Just say the election was corrupt and leave the rest to me and the R. Congressmen,” Trump said at one point to then-Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen, according to notes taken by Richard Donoghue, who was then Rosen’s deputy and who was also on the call.

The pressure is all the more notable because just weeks earlier, Trump’s own attorney general William Barr, had revealed that the Justice Department had found no evidence of widespread fraud that could have overturned the results.

The Dec. 27 call took place just days after Barr had resigned, leaving Rosen in charge of the department during a turbulent final weeks of the administration that also included the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol in which pro-Trump loyalists stormed the building as Congress was certifying the election results.

“These handwritten notes show that President Trump directly instructed our nation’s top law enforcement agency to take steps to overturn a free and fair election in the final days of his presidency,” committee chairman Rep. Carolyn Maloney, a New York Democrat, said in a statement.

She said the committee had begun scheduling interviews with witnesses. The Justice Department earlier this week authorized six witnesses, including Rosen and Donoghue, to appear before the panel and provide “unrestricted testimony,” citing the public interest in the “extraordinary events” of those final weeks.

During the call, according to the notes, Trump complained that people were “angry” and blaming the Justice Department for “inaction” and said that “We have an obligation to tell people that this was an illegal, corrupt election.” He claimed the department had failed to respond to legitimate complaints of crime. Unsubstantiated claims of fraud have been repeatedly rejected by judge after judge, including Trump appointees, and by election officials across the country.

The Justice Department officials told Trump that the department had been investigating but the allegations were not supported by evidence, and they said that much of the information he was getting was “false,” according to Donoghue’s notes.

At one point in the conversation, the notes show, Rosen told Trump that the Justice Department “can’t + won’t snap its fingers + change the outcome of the election, doesn’t work that way.”

Trump responded by saying: “Don’t expect you to do that, just say that the election was corrupt + leave the rest to me and the R. Congressmen,” according to the notes.

Trump mused during the call about replacing Justice Department leadership with Jeffrey Clark, the then-assistant attorney general of the Environment and Natural Resources Division and the acting head of the Civil Division.

After The New York Times reported that Trump had been contemplating a plan to replace Rosen with Clark, the inspector general announced that it would investigate whether any former or current department officials “engaged in an improper attempt” to overturn the results of the presidential election.
