Thinning out autos?

Is it wise to thin out some of the big fan leaves? I've heard it helps promote better growth

No. ESPECIALLY no with autos. You wanna know how to grow successful autos? I'll tell ya:

1) research your genetics
2) start in the pot you will finish in
3) provide a soft, spongey soil with excess aeration to allow the roots to thrive
4) feed delicately until you figure out what the plants demands are
5) don't be afraid to try a little LST but do it early! Some genetics respond well, few will give you fits over LST (so I've heard)
6) don't over water
7) don't defoliate
8) run a 20/4 light cycle, or similar to that
9) if growth/budding stalls out, switch to 12/12 for a week or so

Damn, I just pulled a load of the big fan leaves off lol
I'm growing in dwc so that's fairly simple

I won't be defoliating again then lol

Agree with Uncle Remiss, that was a big no-no, learn something new everyday.
It is better to tuck in the leafs or some light LST to get more sunlight in there.

That's the best way to find out just do it and see what works for you. People say don't transplant autos either but I transplanted my six week old sour crack and she didn't skip a beat.
