You haven't laid out a single verifiable fact behind your claim that the castle doctrine could be invoked. Yes, I can clearly see that the white couple were afraid of the black crowd. I don't think that's enough to invoke a stand your ground defense. Due to the fact that the prosecutor filed charges, he doesn't think so either.
So, lay it out. What objective facts justify invoking the castle defense. If I'm such a dummy and you are so right it shouldn't be that hard.

Lol no I’m in Ca, we have stricter gun laws than anywhere else and it makes owning guns and buying ammo a pita, but our state is fairly safe compared to most others....

How about this:
It is illegal to wave weapons in a threatening manner at those participating in nonviolent protest, and while we are fortunate this situation did not escalate into deadly force, this type of conduct is unacceptable in St. Louis.

In some cases, yes.
People often mistake castle doctrine as having to be a house or business.
It doesn't.
It can apply to any space you occupy at the time.
That's how Zimmerman got away with it. Others have as well.
But castle doctrine wouldn't apply in this case because they instigated the confrontation.
People were simply parading down the street and they went outside to confront them.
They were the aggressor in this instance, hence why they were charged. Castle doctrine doesn't apply here at all.
