Why do gun enthusiasts always seem to be complaining about their guns being taken away? I'm not trying to be a dick, just honestly curious, it seems to be pretty common. Does this come up a lot?

From where I'm sitting it looked like the cop checked the guys sidearm for his safety then handed it right back to him. Agreed with and supported his right to record the encounter for his protection, then shook his hand and gave his information respectfully like a man. I'd buy the dude a drink if I knew where to find him, that impressed the fuck out of me. A lot of other people who carry a badge could learn a lot about the police/citizen relationship from watching this clip.

Nah, the police officer was clearly out of line.
As mentioned before this wouldn't happen in my neck of the woods. Watching this video is something that is foreign to my eyes and i find it very disturbing.
This is not protocol, it isn't for his safety, none of this is law and is unconstitutional.
Are you a marine? what the fuck does that have to do with anything.
The only thing im required by law for open carry of any fully loaded gun of my liking is
A. be 18 or older
B. no previous felonies
Those two things are confirmed with the gun counter clerk, not the police man on the street that sees you open carry.
This entire situation was highly unorthodox and not protocol by any means, again its very disturbing.

Yeah, but you have no right to protect yourself outside your house? gee, which is more likely my wife gets raped in my own home, or when she is out on her own somewhere?

you see you dont have the right to protect yourself, and what good is a gun in a case, besides bludgeoning someone,

and yes canada does have a lower instance of violence, but then canada has no population to get violent with,

and why should the government require a license to own a handgun in your home? why should the government have any say as to whether you can carry a handgun on your person, my government only gets nosy when i want to hide that gun in my wasteband.

you see in the states you have the right to protect yourself, in canada you have to ask if you can protect yourself.

man its just so weird... my step-mother has family out in Arkansas, and they have rifles loaded at every door! its just so hard to picture that here in canada, you know?

and as you said, you can't picture life without guns. just over a borderline yet so many differences

maybe so that they can trace it down when that gun is sitting next to a dead body. just sayin.

i dont know where you live, but some places dont have people like your neighbors. not everyone knows how to use a gun safely. theres a lot of idiots out there. i think the cop did what he shouldve done. what if it was a gun with the serial numbers shaved off? should the cop just not check?
plus if i was a cop, there is no way in hell id let some random guy stand there with a loaded gun while hes talkin to me. secure the weapon, then talk.

damn wtf, look how nice cops are to white people, when i got stopped i did not have no gun no nothing, law abiding citizen n they did me bad, ripped my seats.
i cant wait until i finish school, ima shit on all those white ppl.
this has nothing to do with race. but you make it racist. why? nothing happened because he new his rights and didn't go beyond them.

I bet you one of those "well my great-grandmother was a slave so u owe me too." even though you have never experienced a hardship.

That isnt protocol or law.
What are you saying, cops need to start doing pre crime?
I dont think so.
You need to read your constitution, this is not a 3rd world country.
There really is no need for me to say anything more because i already explained it all, if you dont know this or think the cop was doing something he was suppose to do you need an education and also should get out of america because your part of the problem.

how does the cop know this gun is legal or that it is registered to that guy with out his name or anything. j/w

and yea that cop was only playing nice because the guy had a camera. did you all hear how he played that up at the end. gave him a hand shake, badge number and "god bless". never heard a cop talk like that to me before.

There was no crime being committed, its not the cops job to do what he did.
End of story.
That is why the guy didnt give him his name because he dont have to.

Yup the americanese are not required to carry identification or identify themselves unless stopped for an actual crime. Just be nice about it.
