This is wrong in every way but its still practice..

So I'm just practicing with lighting in these dark winter months as I start the endeavor of starting fresh seedlings tomorrow. I'm also practicing posting on a forum. Will be starting some Northern Lights.
This is just a basil plant that had been doing ooookay :-/ since October but now since I've put the lights on em and gave em some nutes, they are doubling their vegetative yield.

Things I know are wrong already (for the real thing):
1. Right next to window, quite conspicuous...
2. No reflectors (I will be buying a grow tent/box soon)
3. Lights are not properly angled at plant
4. Lights are different - one is "daylight" GE 100W replacement CFL (1600 Lumen); the other is an "LED"/ soft white FEIT Electric100W replacement (1600 Lumen). BTW which is preferred for vegetative/flowering stages? Daylight? or Soft White?
They seem to be liking both lights ok, better than the minimal sun outside..
5. I think I overwatered it at one point because the leaves look hurt. But it's recuperating fine/soil is drying.
6. I dont have CO2 sensor/humidifier/pH gear. Do I need all that for real?
7. I dont have much control over how close the lights are to the plant with this setup. I know that is a problem I have to fix.

Honestly dudes, I'm just happy the makeshift lights I made even WORK! Major accomplishment for me, tryin something new I saw on youtube. I have them on a 18/6 timer for vegetation.

Best advice I got for you man is do some reading about what you need to start a begginers grow. PH yes deff need it. Dehumidifier kinda a climate dependent thing , co2 don't worry about that now I'd get your venting dialed in and few grows under your belt before you worry about that. As far as your lighting I've never used cfl but look at grows who have used em there are some out there , but if you can id go t5 route pretty cheap and work ok , or even better by a hid light. Anyways good luck to u

Bright daylight (6500k) for veg and soft white (2700k) for flower. Basil is much more forgiving than weed. If you stick with cfl or normal led, you will need alot more light.
