To build or Buy a greenhouse???

Boomer, WOW, this is basically what I have in mind for my 40' shipping container. Can I PM u some q's about your insulation, temps etc...? For greenhouse, I say PVC and POLY, cheap easy and movable.

Yeah, go ahead. I've been thinking some very wicked thoughts about a container. And it would look nothing like what you see on the market currently. Oh man, those thoughts gotta get out and make room for more.

I checked out your carport grows man and they look amazing brudda... Keep up the good work... For my use I will need something that will be very stable. I will be in the middle of nowhere with 60 acres of land so privacy will not be as big of issue as in your case.
Im thinking 4x4 posts cemented into the ground for the four anchor beems and then 2x4 frame wrapped in the poly... Will this withstand high winds??? I sure hope so

I would just build it yourself (I did!) The lumber is cheap and it's pretty easy to put up. The most expensive thing will be the covering you choose. I went with Solexx, a bit expensive but I like how much light it passes through and the fact that it diffuses the light so your plants won't burn. BTW, my Solexx is coming next week and is going up ASAP to protect my babies into flowering (too many caterpillars and rain last year!).

There was an article in Mother Earth News where a woman built a greenhouse out of plastic and pvc pipes for 200 dollars. Dimensions on my greenhouse are 40' L X 12' W X 7' H. To be honest I have zero experience building anything so I have kind of made it up as I go. But the base is just 4 X 4's that I dug in the ground so they are level, then I secured them by driving in stakes every couple feet on both sides then screwing the stakes to the 4 X 4. It's actually pretty stable considering. This is not going to be permanent, that is why I didn't go to the trouble of cementing the base. I will be posting some more pics in a new thread soon... Thats a good size green house my man... Im gonna take the same approach as you and use 4x4 for the base and cemented into the ground and then use 2x4s for the rest of the frame.
Your building skills look fine by me and are probably better also.
Now I need to pick a covering and find a greenhouse fan as well. How many plants do you have in there? What kind of yield are you lookin at this year? You should start a journal bro.

These cost about $800 each to build, using Solexx and steel studs. They've withstood 100 mph winds several times.

This is their sixth season.
I originally had intended to build one greenhouse, 12' x 16' but I would have needed a permit. I finally settled on two, 8' x 12'.
Please think about using raised beds rather than holes in the ground, or pots. Better drainage, and larger soil mass.
