To water....or not to water??? That is the question.

Hello everyone, so I'm getting ready to start week 3 of flowering and I'm noticing my 3 ladies are taking waaaay more water. I can put a 1/2 gal in one of their pots and I still don't get any runoff. They are in 3 gal pots. I usually know when to water (when the pot is light and the girls get a little droopy)I've been doing sooo good not overwatering...lol, I guess what I'm asking is if I should be watering until I get some runoff from the drain holes?

Depends on your soil. If you have something good that doesn't hold to much water then yes. If you have cheap soil I wold say no. I use FFOF soil and I water until I get runoff every 2-3 days. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys....I do have a very light good quality soil, it's Fafard organic growing mix 1-pv. I will water until there is runoff at my next water.

BTW...I use air-pots....so I never get root-bound and water drips from the holes on the side and bottom. They really are great- another member on here, Dr. Amber Trichome put me on to it. Best thing I have used for potting.

so is the air-pot brother. But to each their own.....I just had great results w/ it- never get root bound + the above mentioned benefits as well.....unless u live in a dirty shanty-town w/ bugs & roaches and pests all over ur grow...lol ;)

air pots containing? soil right.. thats the point... Hempy is a Passive hydro system. No bugs found from soil... yields of doing hydro with the ease of soil..
last run i pulled 3oz of a 2liter bottle... next is 2gal and 5 gal buckets.

Oh NO...that picture will not do!!!! I LIKE TO BE SCARED!!!! Your "normal" picture I find WAAAAY more frightening! And thanks for the welcoming welcome. I'm still a rookie, but I'm working on it! Almost done with my first grow....getting ready for my 2nd. Sucks for me....no clones here....no dispensaries, all on my own.....in the middle of nowhere just trying to grow me some sweet ass ladybuds with the help of my RIU peeps :)

I use throwaway grow bags and I cant say enough. Less then 5-6 bucks for the whole pack and you dont have to wash them in the end. Just toss em. Not to mention the roots grow naturally with not much hesitation. I am just looking at those air pots and I have to imagine the roots have issues getting in each of thos notches. The roots travel down the side walls of the pot and it does not look like they could do that without some stress. I use 10 gallon grow bags and have never looked back.

I always water until I get runoff
when the girls are thirsty in my 3g pots they will start giving me runoff at around 3 litres. I always go a gallon on it and let it drain until it stops dripping.
Angle your pot as well it will drain better.

Hey brother whatever works for ya. I respect that 100%. I just seen the results and w/ others myself. As far as the roots coming thru the conincal holes from the side. I had a 3 foot plant I just choppped down pix and all @ Doogiesnuts and root-bound is not possible.

But I get it, we all like to go w/ what we are use to.

u guys are missing it... heres a hempy setup.. try it.. i was a soil head at first to

1. 2 liter-2gal pot
2. drill only one hole 2-3inches up from bottom ( no other holes anywhere... this creates ur rez)
3. fill with perlite or (80%perlite 20%vermiculite)
4. plant and water just until water comes out ur hole u made... and DONE.

once ur clone hit the rez it explodes and u replenish the rez every 3-4 days

Sounds interesting. When you replenish, how do you get rid of the old nutes in the rez,
do you tip the pot to drain or just add a lot of fresh nute mix in?

it wont be anything left in the res when its time to water.... basically u water until it flows out the side then u feed... transplant into finishing containers, the roots shit on soil roots at the same age.

This is (The White x Snowdawg) in 2 liter bottle... using only maxi and calmag

yes, 2liter bottle with top cup off.... next is 2 gal buckets... vegging in 2 liter bottles for 4 weeks then transplant and flower...
