Total NOOB with Hydro and I NEED the GURU's of RIU advise

So I am about to start my first hydro setup in a Bucket with about 6 plants.
Questions I have:

What is the best feeding cycle? ie. 1 weeks to change the reservoir or every 5 days? When my res runs low do I top it up with water?

What are safe PPM numbers?

Has anyone worked with a flooded system?

I would give those seedlings 150 - 200ppm nutes to start. There is a balance where the plant will use as much nutes as it does water, so your water level will drop as it soaks up water, but your nute PPM will stay the same. If your water level drops and your PPM goes up, you have more nutes than it can eat. If your PPM is dropping, it's taking more nutes out of the water than it can drink. So, every day more or less check your PPM, ph, and water level... keep your res temps under control.

I change my buckets once a month pretty much just to clean everything down. If you stay on top of things in your rez and maintain your solution, there is no need to change your water.

Thanks you for the help.....

Another question.

Why don't you change the water? Do you just add mote nutes or fresh water?

that never changing nute statement is about the worst advice you could get. 2-3 weeks for large res(50gal+), 7-12 days for smaller res. what the plants do not absorb will concentrate in the res and can actually poison the plant with salt buildup and other issues.

Because doing it every week is a waste of money, effort, and isn't necessary if you maintain your res.

If ppm is low add water, else nutes.

I have a flood and drain table, 6” Rockwool cubes on coco mat. I clean and change my rez every 7 days (40 gl) I flood once a day, one hour after the lights come on. Go to the General Hydroponic Website and they have a feeding chart with ppm that you can download and print out. Good luck.

awful advice, you need to change and clean everything often. And ppm don't get low they get high as water is used and evaporates. You add water to get the ppm down....and never top off with nutes, water only!

once a month or so is fine but if you want to do it every week go ahead its your shit.

i said the other part backwards but my original reply was correct. and idk how your running your ppms in ebb n flow but in my dwc the plants are happy at 620 ppm and ppms stay there as the water level goes down. so riddle me this fuck boy, if i have a half gallon of water left in my bucket at 620 ppm wtf is topping up with water onry going to do?
lower my ppm to around 250. so i have to add nutes. common sense is hard.

he is right, finding the sweet spot where water and nutes are absorbed evenly is what you need to look for. i never add more nutes to a res.

What Are good sets of nutes to use? Even better question is what is the bare minimum I need to buy from General hydroponics to keep my plants alive? Is there one bottle per season by any chance? Like " buy the veg and bloom nutes=done"

At minimum you need the micro, grow and bloom. They also have a 2 part but i've never used it. Just ignore malevolence! I can't even respond to what he's saying. You can call GH and ask to talk to a tech. They are very helpful and will tell what you need for your set up. Good luck! 707-824-9376 tell them your budget is small and they will give you a good feeding schedule. That is what I did when I first started and was low on funds.

you cant respond because you confused the fuck out of yourself and dont understand that topping with water lowers your ppm.

I agree. I grew hydro for years and I always cleaned my reservoirs every 7 days or so. Keep that water cool and oxygenated and you should be fine.. Under 70 degrees is money
