When I find myself trimming for 3-4 hours or longer my back gets VERY sore. does anybody know a back support method to use while trimming? I can not lean back in my chair and I can not get comfortable.

Honestly the rig I have now is the easiest I have ever used - strings going back and forth - bring a branch over and string it up - trim it over a tarp on the ground - collect trim. However my back still starts to hurt when I am standing and I am not good at staying on my feet for 4 hours... do you think one of those belts that people whos jobs include heavy lifting would help or are those only for lower back support?

The chair I have is a wooden chair for a dinner table but then again I cannot afford to buy a computer chair or a lazyboy or anything comfortable at this time + The room I am trimming in has a very small entrance and is hard to fit much more than this chair or a stool in there.

It's your upper back that gets sore? In that case, the belt won't do much good. The only other suggestion I have is to break every hour religiously and then do a set of arm/torso stretches. When my back gets sore, holding one position too long, with concomitant drying-out of the joints and discs, is a major source of the owies. cn

It is actually right in the center that starts to get sore and when it does if I do not stop it keeps getting worse until I cannot take it anymore. What stretches help you?

My trouble spot is behind the left scapula (I'm rather scoliotic) and a series of spine and arm stretches/calisthenics is best at controlling that ... when i can muster the gumption to stay with the program. regular motion is the ticket ... joints "deflate" and dry out with disuse. I don't know the names of the moves; sorry. Maybe set a timer while you trim, and every 30 minutes or so, take a 5-min walk, stretch, chores break.

And if you keep some vegetable oil by the sink, it's a great way to unstick your hands for that bit of chores. Veg oil cuts right through finger resin. cn

Veg oil - nice tip - I use TecNu works very well IMO.
My girlfriend has been expressing worries that I have a very slight scoliosis for the past 2 years, she wants me to go to my doctor and have her check it out.
Right now trimming is the chore - the only thing I have been able to do to relax after it gets to a severe point is make a pile of pillows and blankets on the bed and lay with them right in the center of my back... I know it isn't good for me but it helps a lot with the pain - and honestly back pain was not even the reason I got my medical card - but it has been there since before I got it just never a real issue unless I am doing something in 1 position for 2 long

I'd be curious to know if taking rigorous 5-min stretchit breaks every half-hour (call them your ""commercials", lol) would help. cn

<edit> By "rigorous" I don't mean "vigorous", but strict about timing. The stretches can be quite gentle. If you're grooming a Sativa, perhaps even Thai Chi. :joint::bigjoint:

I will set a 30 min alarm on my phone and do some stretches - which I will need to look up online - and the only sativa I have is Blue Dream :S I love the taste of blue dream and I am one of the few people in my area who has it.

I got out to my grow with a 5 gal bucket and take some cuttings, go to the trim table and trim
and repeat it give me a break walking out to the garden and back maybe grabbing some coffee.

I sit on a couch and have a tray (either a shallow cardboard box, rubbermaid bin lid or a shallow plastic bin) I trim into on my lap. The bud bin on the floor beside me. This way I am not bent over and still comfy. I also put it on the coffee table too for a break. When I trim I have to toke break, get up and walk around like every 30 mins though, I get stiff lol. :D

Lower or lengthen your string so that your branch is at eye level when you sit in your chair.

It is a little too late for that, I already pulled it all. It is hanging in the rooms. TBH it went quick pulling everything, we used a 250 gallon pot and a tractor :)

Tried that but my neck gets stiff - I guess I have more spine issues than I thought now that I have to type it out...

I have it so that the buds are at eye level, but going up or down the branch isnt fun I just end up picking it up, The last 1 I did my back was hurting but I wanted to finish it so I took the 6" of bare branch and sat on it and just pulled the limbs up as I needed them... but the tip didnt work that way almost broke it off...

My trimming pattern - turn on music - sit down start trimming*30 mins* stand up walk around cutting random leafs off cuz I'm sore from sitting* then sit for an hour and trim, go fill up my water... then trim for another hour then usually give up.... My "break" doesnt last and I dont usually stretch like CB suggested so I like that Idea. Also - this may sound lame but my TV broke and the only way to watch TV is on my comp... Last year we trimmed as we needed it but this year I wanted to do it all proper and cure it all

I cannot watch TV while trimming. I played a lot of music though. LPs are ideal; one cannot leave the needle in the groove, and the time is just right for the next opportunity/need to move it all. cn
