Oh I know, and even with the stuff you can self teach it's nice to have an expert check off your work.
My Dad was an auto mechanic, carpenter, plumber, electrician all out of necessary. Yours probably was too, all self taught, it was that generation. I hire that shit done.

Interesting tidbit though, are you familiar with the Vitruvian Man? How about the anatomy and physiology studies Socrates did? Who taught that to DaVinci? Who taught Socrates? Hell it took us 100 years just to realize DaVinci was right.
Do I believe that anything learned is possible? Yes, so this means that I believe there is somebody somewhere at some point in time that could actually learn open heart surgery on his own. Somebody had to be first, right? Do I think that's any of us here on a pot forum? no..
Don't project your own shortcomings onto others. Just because you can't be self taught doesn't mean someone else can't.
