I'm about to try out this tek, for my first real time growing cubes on my own.
From what I have gathered, the new "bens original" brown rice bags have a higher moisture content now, which means a higher chance of getting wet rot, afaik. It is advised to only use .25 to .5 cc out of your spore syringe, for those that would be doing it that way, as to not add even more moisture than is already there.
I guess people that have the most problems, and lose the most bags, is mostly because they inject to much solution. Just wanted to give heads up, not that uncle bens won't work good.. Suppose that means one good syringe could noc up like 20 bags, which sounds good to me.
Many are reporting better results with store brand versions, like target, safeway, and kroger's 90 second rice brands for example. They are drier from the start, and more ideal to use for this purpose because of it.
I'm going to be using the Kroger brand, and heard its the best. Cheaper too. Been grabbing an 8 pack every time I go to the store (box and all), until I can afford a new PC. Im gonna go big, with about 40 bags (hoping for 32 good ones), using 2 syringes for my first try. I'm not gonna fiddle around touching them all the time, or break and shake them up outside a flow hood either, as some contam seems to happen from messing with the GE holes and tape like people do.
I noticed they have UB family size 2 1/2 minute microwave bags now.. 17.3oz which are basically 2 regular sized bags worth, and equal to a full quart of spawn once colonized. I haven't seen any brown whole grain versions yet, but some people have, and using it fine. Seems it would be better to do one inoculation vs doing 2 IMO.
