using molases in hydroponics? slimy stuff in the tank!

Hello,
a complete noob here, i'ev been reading so many about using molases in the feed, so i did that. im using hydroponics/organic nutes, so i added 3tsp molases to my 50L resr. after 1 day, i have a lot of yelowish slime in my tank, with a bit of a bad smell too. is this bacteria? what should i do? and how can i supply my plant with all it needs without getting those bad results?

it could be algae, is there any light getting in the res if so cover it up with some balck duct tape so no light gets in the res and keep the res temps around 60f-68f but to me it sounds like algae or root rot and if you can add more airstones or a stronger air pump

highly doubt that, i do have lots of light in my tank, but bofore i put the molasses the water was clear...so i think its bacteria feeding on the sugar??

Its almost 100% gonna be at least partly an algae problem, light+water+nutes=perfect algae growth enviroment.

I had the exact same problem. It's the molasses, it's really good for soil, but not so good for hydro. The water seems to get "thicker" and slimier. Use sweet, it has better results than molasses and it will solve your problem. +Represent

I also tryed the molasas in my dwc 5 gal bucket set up,and after 1 day not even 24 hrs. my nute solution was was very cloudy and my ph was sky high.so I flushed with ph adjusted water and got it back to where it was,but now it seems that my plants are not useing the nutes like they were before, every day mt nute solution is down but my ppm is higher than what it should be,Im going to flush again and see what happens anyway I would stay away from the molasas in hydro good luck

...dude, get sweet in hydro....molasses is cool in soil, but will put clumps of shit in your res. Flush it out good, go get some sweet.
