Using Ultra sonic Humidifier for Aero

I'll be testing out an Ultrasonic Humidifier in my remodeled former Hydrosystem to grow Aeroponic it should put a vapor mist out giving my plants full nutrients and maximum growth.:leaf:

Pics coming soon! its spectacular

Alot of people say ultrasonic humidifiers put out alot of heat. Or is too fine of mist and encourages root hairs? I was thinking of just adding one to my diy soakaponics w/ sprinkler heads for some variation in droplet size. Maybe just twice a day or something.

Im interested to see what your results are.

It will work, but you'll run into a few problems right off the bat.

Firstly, heat as Humba was saying. Its amazing how quickly it heats up the surrounding water. Plan on doing water changes constantly.

Secondly, you'll have to replace the disc often from getting mineral deposits. Depending on the type of nutrients you're using, you might have problems getting a thick fog built up.

If you get it to work, definitely let us know.

Good luck.

Honstly you should read the countless threads on this site as well as many others to understand the limitations of ultrasonic foggers. Ther're not worth the hassle. If they provided sufficient nutrient uptake, that would be another story.

my results so far have been 5seconds on and five minutes off. and the vapor is still there up until 6minutes off. Heat is not a problem with what I'm using. I'm sure other products run into heat problems but this has not yet and I've been testing all day long. with five seconds on 5minutes off the water is actually being saved and is more efficient on energy. the fog is thicker then smoke and resides in my container for a max of 7minutes. I'll be drilling holes and cutting spaces for pots I'll keep you up to date on this its working very well so far and has exceeded my expectations.

I run mine for 30 minutes on, 30 minutes off. The fog remains for some time and the roots never dry out, they are still dripping wet by the time the fogger kicks on again. I've never had a heat issue, as the device uses an ultrasonic wave, not heat to mag fog. The water is vibrated with an ultra frequency to 3-5 microns. Make sure the fogger you buy has cheap replacement plates. Some of the ceramic plates can be very expensive. My fogger has replacements in a 3 pack for $7.... I've used nothing but fog to root cuttings. I have not tried to feed the cuttings with a fogger as of yet, but intend to on my next clone run.

I'm sub'ed for this thread, as I'm extremely interested in what they can do. I have seen aeroponic channels with foggers at the end that keep a fog in the channel with the roots between waterings. People are loving the results with the roots.

You are going to be replacing that water quite often, I see leaks all over. :) Also, those bends in the PVC are going to become condensation collectors, causing drips to accumulate and flow into the bottom of that contraption.

I don't see that sustaining life...

Get a bucket, cut 2" holes in the top, and drop the fogger in the bucket.... no need for all that whiz you have going on.

the PVC is not glued yet, leaks can be fixed I've gotalot of work still. I ghave thought about putting it the pot but it can not be submerged in water. there will be a pump at the bottom of the res which I did not get pictures of yet

My ultrasonic fogger has to be under water, 2" of water. I use a float that was designed for it.

I like DIY type stuff, but I just don't get what it is you are trying to accomplish. You are going to lose nutrients at the bends, cause condensation will collect and form drops and they will get stuck in that plumbing. I know a bucket isn't elaborate, but it works. The bucket below has a fogger in it, set to run 30 minutes on, 30 off....

okay it makes sense that the condensation collects. but at the same time it collects on the lid of the bucket as well. I'll just be pumping it back into the humidifier most likely tho. I may change my design up now. my main concern is how do i keep the vapor / fog in because once it is out it turns into a layer of dust, with nutes and other chemicals in it that wouldn't be good. the Pipe may just go straight across and into the pot from a side.

I do like that bucket idea, my goal is to be able to have the upper pot for sprouts and the lower pot for bigger plants. if it makes sense it was a hydroponic system that didn't work great at all so instead of throwing it out i figured i'd use this humidifier try it out
