UVC light for PM, and trimming

Hi Folks,

Started to trim my plants for harvest. Plan is to make bubble hash out of some frozen and some cured bud. My plants have PM, and I'd like to reduce it as much as possible. Will be doing bud washing prior to harvest. I'm wondering if I should go out and buy a UVC light to shine at night, then harvest the next day.

Are plants able to survive in the trimmed state they are in? From my understanding the leaves in the plant are used for breathing.

The top flowers have less PM then the lower. Would like to retain the top colas for spoke, just want to reduce as much as possible the PM.

Interesting that u ask if the plants are goin tu survive after u trimmed them ^^
spray some mix water /milk or bicarbonate on the leaves & stalks as well, do it again every 2days, u'll get a bit of respite
i don't know about the lights

If you plan to wash buds then I would wait until those buds ripen up (weeks to go)

what makes you say that?

Depending where you look on the plant the trichomes are 15 - 20 percent amber. Also weather starting to turn here in Canada, have no indoor light to finish them off.

I'm sure you already know it is rare to see over ripe plants
and waiting till a heavy freeze/frost helps big time in the maturity aspect ?

I think many would say I helped them even if it doesn't get sugar coated

you don’t start checking trichomes until the plant actually is within the ripe window.


based on your first pics I would say you have at least 3 weeks left.

Only once the pistils have receded and the buds have swollen should you begin checking trichomes.

once you become more familiar with “ripe” plants you won’t even check trichomes.

I haven’t checked a trichome since around 2012.

The first photo of of the trichomes is from a lower branch which will be less ripe. That's what confuses me, the top buds are more ripe than the lower. So the whole plant is not ripening at the same time.

How would you judge the photo below? Believe that is one near the top of the plant.

Can you harvest a plant in sections? Like cut the more ripe top, followed by lower sections later on?

I would rather see the whole bud first!

not just trichomes.

the amount of pistil that I can see there screams a long time to wait.

That plant is not ready to harvest. It doesn't matter what the trichomes look like through some gadget you bought on amazon.

So how are you to tell what a ripe plant bud looks like, any examples? It is by the smell, or the look of the bud. It's already cut down, but would would waiting another two weeks make a large difference?
