In this instance I have no internal metaphor for brutally collaborative.
Please explain.
I was just playing off your use of brutally competitive.

Just collaborative works for what I meant. Competition is cool and all, but I would rather have people understand how to work in a team and learn to listen to everyone in the group regardless of gender/race/language barriers/etc. Also we shouldn't throw up bottlenecks for people gaining knowledge IMO. Ever. Learning should be lifelong and far easier than it currently is for people to gain quality education.

We need them both, and I have no clue as to best resource allocation.
Competition in a large enough field makes for a good first cut.
Provided the whole thing is based on real stuff and not hardbitten ideology.

Lol, no of the doctors exist and actually said those things. But yeah, I believe you can find a doc to lie for ya, big tobacco kind of proved that. But you carry on with your stupid skins or shirts games. Got please tell me you’re a 20 something who doesn’t remember things like Iran contra.

Yep, you found a few doctors and scientists that lied for profit.

But the studies, the science didn't lie.

Don't conflate people with the work they do. And don't label a group based on your bias, it won't long hold up.

I recall the Nixon era, I recall the pentagon papers, I recall Cambodia.

But to claim that because government lies we can simply discount everything they and their agents say is as foolish as believing it all.

Also speaking of space, perfect example of making government smaller, they privatized space travel and look how good it’s going.
Please name a company that would pay the ten billion it cost to put the Webb space telescope into orbit around the sun so we could see the origin of the universe.

Or the 300 billion it took to put people on the moon and play golf.

You people can be so closed minded. Anyway I did say space travel as in people traveling. But regardless, we will obviously see more and more satellites being launched privately and there will always be a section the government will control alone. Make smaller is the idea, not replace, at least not in this case. But again, I find some of you surprisingly close minded.

The idea of small government is doing what you want with the smallest resources you can. Or another way to think about it is by being more efficient. Sometimes cutting out crap makes things more efficient no?

ever see a town construction crew on the job?

I don’t. I’m saying when I see all the networks, print and online news flood with the same kind of stories like I’ve seen them do in the past it reeks of propaganda. Propaganda doesn’t have to be false after all. But in this case, I don’t believe a lot of it even though I believe the message.

Funny thing, I have found that those who have taken Hallucinogenics and to a lesser extent those who smoke are resistant to propaganda.

I personally am unafraid and unmoved by it.

And you? Can you coexist with propaganda and still divine the truth?

I think most people over the age of 40 can. It's the young ones who have like zero bullshit sense.

Wait I take that back. I know a 70 year old who was afraid of Antifa. But I do think age and common sense matter.

Of course it should be free.

The period after the gi bill took effect is ample proof that a free higher education increases national solvency far beyond and immediate expense. Those freely educated folk brought us incredible benefits including the ability to pay for THEIR children's education.

And that "but those gis paid for their education in blood and tears."

Nope, the bill was a bonus, a gift from a great full nation, there was no bargain beforehand.
Higher education for free brings us blue sky research as well.
All true what you said. But I came away from the history lesson about the GI bill with the impression that political leaders were afraid of what might happen if millions of WW2 vets didn't get that education and retraining.

So, you can't name such companies.

Right?

Lol, that's the one thing trump did I really liked. Concur it's a giant waste, and I legit have no clue what their function is (other than being another entire branch of government brought to you by the small government party) but I do think we should explore the hell out of space.
All that was already being done by the Air Force. The same folks are doing the same things as before, they just have a new logo.

Well damn, eh, don't care what they call it as long ad it gets done. Space exploration should be done by the government with all research/findings/etc going into the public domain.

NASA does exploration.

The new Space Force and before it the Air Force have always been about ICBM's. Also they have anti satellite weapons, and work to harden our satellites.

Oh, well fuck those guys then. Dammit, trump can't even get my misunderstood branches of the military duties right! It was the one thing I pointed at for the say something nice about the other side question.

Give Nasa some monies plz biden. They can keep on defending stuff, I want onward and upward.

I guess I would point out that with lifelong learning and how important different perspectives are to finding better solutions, there really is not much of a reason for a 'good first cut' when it comes to education.

The cream will still rise to the top, and different programs of course will need to be selective (if for nothing else but economics of reality), and actual competition in things like science fairs/debates/etc, but I think a lot of the problems we are still having in our society come from the 'competition' model that rich white men set up. The one that the loud, pushy, and schmoozing are rewarded in leadership.

This is why I have a lot more hope for the young generations when they start to take over from those of us brought up in the pre-2000's era.

How so? Espionage? NASA still had their top secret robo shuttle, they are letting private companies be the mules to space. I got no problem with that. Better than hitching a ride on a Russian rocket. Besides, wasn’t there just another case of a service man selling nuke secrets to the Chinese?
no, i was thinking more along the lines of having a base where they could drop unpowered, very hard to track explosive devices. also a base that would be very hard to attack in return. they would need very little resources to attack a target on earth, while we would need an enormous amount of resources to retaliate, and anything we sent towards them would have to be powered and easily tracked...
i'm not trying to get into the realm of James Bond villains, but i for one, don't trust anyone with the resources to build such a facility to use it for entirely ethical, peaceful purposes.

Indeed, but your post tends to imply that there are more stupid Republicans than democrats.
i see it more like there are at least two camps of republicans, those who have some morals and ethics, and who never liked or wanted trump, and those who don't know what the words morals and ethics mean, and who welcomed a disingenuous, amoral, misogynist, racist, pathological liar as the leader of their party...the first camp has members at least as intelligent as the average democrat...the second camp....not so much....

I know plenty of republicans. I don't really give them a pass for that vote in 2016, but let it slide as an unknown quantity and voting for your team out of habit.

Yeah, they were really embarrassed and didn't make that mistake again. 2020 was way closer than I expected, guess there were not as many reasonable republicans as I believed.

sometimes, but people don't play by the rules, they try to cheat the second you aren't directly watching them, so you need inspectors to make sure food is properly handled, you need inspectors to make sure products are manufactured in a safe environment, that waste is disposed of in a safe way, that the products themselves aren't dangerous...you need watchdogs to make sure the inspectors are doing their jobs properly, and aren't accepting bribes. you need irs agents to make sure that people are paying their fair share of taxes (yeah, i know...)...the system demands a certain number of people to be in jobs that really shouldn't have to exist, but do, because people aren't to be trusted if not under direct observation

Many are one issue voters no matter how far down the rabbit hole the GOP goes
