Ventilation questions

So I've got a small empty spot in my basement about 12x14 and plan on putting up 4 1000 watt air cooled lights. Had some questions about venting especially since it gets to -40 celcius here for a couple weeks straight in the winter. So i wanted to grab air from somewhere in my house for my lights and re direct it somewhere in the house to heat my living space in the winter. Im getting a little confused when it comes to fresh air intake and exhausting for hot air and humidity. Can i have a constant fresh air exchange going as well as a hot air exhaust that bring air from outside for when its to hot or humid?

or you can like a normal human and use a heater lol

My home doesnt stink like dope and I have a 1300 sqft 24kW grow in the basement. I run sealed with CO2 and AC. I use carbon filters in my rooms as scrubbers or you can smell it at the street. I don't have to run the furnace in the winter as I have radiant floor heating with the grow in the basement.

Not sure what the humidity is at currently. Just moved in a couple days ago but will find that out later on today. I would get a dehu or whatever to correct my levels.

Im just curious about ventilation. Should i have just an active or passive for air or should i have a temp controlled fan to shoot out hot air and bring cold from outside or both ventilation systems. Problem is that it gets cold here in northern ontario in the winter.

If it's cold out I would put a blower and dust shroom on the intake, using galvanized snap seam duct with insulation over it to prevent condensation, don't run the duct over any electrical just incase. Plug the blower into a temperature controller so when the room gets warm it kicks on blowing in the fresh cold filtered air. Don't blow directly on the plants, blow into the hot zone above the lights.

The exhaust would be passive and let flow into the home for heat. If it's cold and dry outside then the heat and humidity will be welcome. Using carbon scrubbers in the room (just recirculating air) you will control odor. Phat and phresh make the good ones.

A dehumidifier will be needed in the grow room when lights are off.

If you are using sealed bonnets, no problem. You may want to vent some warm air into the op and use a positive air exchange by introducing regulated cold air into the bonnets for the house/mother room and the op and a passive exhaust vent or a vent fan tuned to the output/intake..

What you are proposing may be more complex than you might of at first thought. I did one of my places like that to save on power but it was vent extensive and fans/blowers have to turn at the correct speed, etc. It was worth it though because the air was always clean and fresh.

Venting changes with the seasons :)

Thanks a lot for that. So with the passive air i would make some holes taking air from the house correct? I would also put a damper or something on the fresh air from outside so the passive air system doesn't bring in the cold?

All sounds good.

I have intakes setup in my flowering rooms, dust shrooms in basement window wells with a plywood board angled away from the house to prevent rain from getting in the window wells but still let air down there. The electric dampers are handy when it's windy outside, more so when it's hot out for me as that system is only for backup cooling and fresh air exchanges at light off in my setup.

How big of a blower do you think I'll need? Based of volume?

How big of a blower do you think? Or is it based on the volume of my room?
