Warning about "Biosolids" aka Human Shit.

I'm sure most of you already know, but for those that don't, "Biosolids" that are sometimes sold in compost mixes is a euphemism for "treated sewage sludge". Not good for using to grow your cannabis with at all.

I got some of that by accident. Took it right back to the store and said, "What is this crap?"

It's a shame they get away with misleadingly labeling it. Use it in reclaimed mining sites and places already screwed up, but keep it away from my buds and my veggies.

The Chinese use it exclusively to feed farm raised fish (talapia mostly) that they sell to dumbassed Americans that buy fish at Wal-Marx. They also use it to fertilize their veggies.

None of those look like products targeted to mj growers. I'm not true organics, but I mostly use the Botanicare line and those bottles say things like "seabird guano" and "kelp extract".

True, but not everyone uses the "specialty" soils to grow weed in. Nothing wrong with either seabird guano or kelp extract.

What is wrong with using biosolids? It's not just raw sewage. It goes through a natural process using thousands of worms to convert the sewage into fertilizer.

No it isn't just raw sewage it is treated raw sewage, and "pink slime" isn't just salvaged meat refuse it is treated salvaged meat refuse. In both cases they are however close enough to have a concern over. Especially when they try to market it as "compost" or "hamburger", and are both banned in some other modern countries.

By the way, they don't use worms, they use anaerobic digesting tanks. Which basically means they put it in a sealed container for a while. Other treatments vary with the particular plant.

If you want to use it, by all means do, I'm not telling anyone what to do. But it should be plain enough on the label that people can make that choice on their own, and not hidden behind some deceptive organic sounding name to "trick" consumers into it.

Yeah, seriously, even if the stuff was safe, would you want stranger poo near your buds? I don't even want my own poo near it, and I know where I've been.

Pretty sure when they say "don't poo where you eat" they don't mean it's okay for other folks to either.

Kidding aside, I am not just a prude, I am even a fan of fertilizing with composted mature vegetarian-insectivore animal poo (moo-moo cows, and cluck-cluck chickens, and even scream-scream bats), but human, dog, and cat poo is a known gag-gag no-no.

Thanks for replying with some credible information. I was asking a legitimate question not trying to be a dick. Anyways I'm not saying I use the stuff or anything.

After digging up those articles, I'm more concerned about other toxins and pharmaceuticals in the biosolids than poop.
