Water Storage?

Put a few fish in it. They'll keep the water moving a bit, eat insects, and fertilize it.

For train collection I'd put rain gutters up hill and have them drain in to barrels.

Oh and I bet if you hit up your local mosquito abatement they'll give you free mosquito fish.

Cool Thanks Guys Now just Have To Think Of A Way To Get The Most Water Stored With A Good Stealthy Idea.

How far away is the creek/water source you spoke of? Hoses and a hand pump can be concealed until you need to use them to replenish the tanks......I have no idea how much these jewels cost, but i would think it would be money well spent. A Whale "Gusher" bilge pump will move a gallon per stroke, but this seems like a more practical solution. It says currently unavailable, but I'm sure that one can find a similar product, I just did a quick Google search and found this.

You could hide the pump and a lot of hose pretty easily.

seems like a couple of small brown or green tarps like 6x6 or so would work better as they have greater surface area. They would also be easier to hide when not in use than 10' pieces of gutter.

dig at bottom of hill, line with plastic running out of pond and spread out, up the hill. work great if you dig em' deep enough.

think they would still gather enough rain even in semi thick cover?

i would say 500 yrds. and as for hiding the line it goes through places it would easily be seen on grass. i would love to do this if there were a practical way for me too do it. i could always run it too my vegetable garden first that would cut 1/4 way and be legit but then there is even more places it would be seen leading from there. bucket bombing sucks thats all i know. But until I find a better way bucket bombing ahoy.

I was in the same boat as you man, trying to work out how to get sufficient water, i was trawling the threads and found a post by *BUDS
Put up tarps amongst the tall trees near the patch -----Build dams using rect tarp( one end tied to two trees up about 8ft, the other end made into a spout by joining corners together using wire.) The tarp is on a 45 deg angle, under the spout end is a 60l plastic garbage bin with shade cloth as a lid (wrap wire or ocky strap around to hold cloth in place ) this stops animals drinking it. try to have it in shade to stop evap, use buckets to water, use black or army green tarp.
They are easy to bring in and easy to set up. In a heavy 10 min shower ,its full. I set up a 4 in each patch(30 hole patches), gives me 240 litres a visit. If its not raining much just space it out, dont use all at once.
Lugging in drums of water is back breaking and fucks your trail. Try to put them in the shade just outside the pen.

I've always envisioned the gutters at the bottom of a few pieces of corrugated steel roofing. I'd make it look like an old dilapidated lean to that's falling apart.
