Week 5 of first cfl grow with pic

just over week 5 of my first grow with cfls of northern lights... This is probably my nicest bud. Had some nut burn a few weeks ago that i think stressed them out a bit but no major damage. Some hairs are starting to turn brown now. You guys think they will fill in any more ??? also im guessing 2 to 3 more weeks ???? Merry Christmas. I might break one off for Santa CAM00259.jpg

Looks decent for a CFL grow but yeah, you've got at least three weeks, probably more, till it's done.

Harvest Tip:

Wait until no new white hairs are growing...
Wait until the hairs [turn color] and start to recede back into bud....
Then check your Calyxes, and make sure they have swelled up [they will look like a double sized seed inside]...
Harvest window opens up .... Now...
Then check your Trichromes ...
Plant will make clear Tric's until the day you harvest...
As plant dries, some clear turn milky....some milky Tric's turn amber...
I harvest when I see a few amber Trics... or when plant is over 90% cloudy/milky...
That's Peak THC...
Good Luck on the wait....
I'd say January 26, 2014 you will be smoking some of it's bud.....

I know hps is really the way to go but in my situation i think cfls are going to be just fine for me....the final test with be when i smoke it for the first time....cant wait

looks like you are using cfl's in the blue spectrum (about 6000k). I believe it is best to switch towards the red spectrum in the flowering stage, about 2700k. btw cfl's are awesome, they get a bad rep. you can (and should) put them as close to the plants as possible, like up to an inch or two, depending on the wattage (1 inch for 26w, 2 inches for 50w, etc.)

im running 6 large 68 watt 2700k cfls plus 4-23 watts cfls with 1/2 2700k and 1/2 5500k. and i do keep them a couple inches from the plants
