I recommend using the FloraNova if you go hydro with GH nutes... simpler to use (2 part instead of 3 part), and pH was more stable. The tent (2x4) was like 70-80 degrees and used the BS 240 light(s) entire grow

Get the flower model if you're only going to pick 1. The veg model is definitely worth getting if you are getting more than one. I wish I had more.

Fearless check out subcool's super soil formula in the organic area. I've grown very fond of using Pure Blend Metabolic Grow/Bloom formula (100% organic) when i'm not growing in super soil. For super soil you only need water no nutes.

Depends on your grow area. If you are in very small space, one is fine. If you are trying to cover more than a few feet square, you'll want more than one. If you are in a small space, you could also get the 240w veg & 240w flower models and swap'em out, or have two chambers.

I have the 336xpro and was wondering if you also saw similar results in your own garden. I notice that most strains stretch more for the light than they do under HID. I have low ceiling height and got the 336 as a means of controlling heat in a limited space which it does well but the plants stretch all the way up to the bulbs at 5 feet high even if they are switched to 12/12 at 8".

Yup, because if you want a 500, just put the 2 x 240s right next to each other :) or you could space them out and get 2x the grow area

Most people say the exact opposite.... LED causes significantly less stretching. Try moving the light a bit closer perhaps.

If you keep the light more than 24 inches you will see stretching for the plant reaching for the light. If you want more even spacing throughout your nodes of the plant, I suggest keeping the light about 12-24" away from the top of the plant at all times and moving the light to stay within this distance as the plant grows.

Hi all! I am going to be changing things up a little bit and place this LED test on temporary hold.

The 2 test plants in the Chrome tent are going to go longer than I originally anticipated.

In order to let the plants go full cycle, I am going to flower the next round of plants in the 1000w HPS tents. I'll be comparing digital vs magnetic ballasts.

I appreciate everyone's patience, the LED showdown should begin within a few weeks.
I'll keep updating with the test plants in the meantime so without any further reading, here is day 42 of 12-12 under the Blackstar Chrome 720w.

What exactly are you expecting from a mag vs digi comp grow??? It's just two different techs firing up HID bulbs(50-60hz vs 20,000-30,000hz), we already know which one is more stable/reliable :p...........the plants won't show a preference..

I know it's not going to be the most exciting, but I am going to get a PAR meter and check out the specs of each light and see if there is any difference between the tents. I really enjoy testing for differences. I figured I would get the boring HPS vs HPS out of the way now to make way for further exploration, and in the meantime I could try a few new things. I'm employing HST techniques on the super sour OG's in both tents this round as well as trying a new trimming method. By using this comparison to try some new things, it's giving me a direction that I can head in for further comparisons. I'm also learning a few new tips and tricks that I plan to share with the rest of RIU , on top of re-writing my nutrient schedule that I previously created. Hopefully the new techniques I am trying will be proven to increase yield (I have to wait for the results to be sure but the preliminary testing looks promising).

Don't suppose you have a lumitek digital? I'm curious if their 'super lumen' output option actually outputs the extra 10-15% they say it will.
