So, im 19 and I have a little bro whos going to be 15 and he's getting really curious. I am very involved in counter-culture obviously and try to keep my activities secret however my brother isn't dumb

He's starting to fiend and wants to be around me whenever i toke up. He is always super crazy hyper and has ADD/ADHD and takes medication for it.... His mom (my step mom) is a sheep.

Should i let the kid take a puff? He's one o0f those sober people you see and say "this guy could really use a hit"

Knowing what I know now, I'd say wait until he's 18 (or whatever legal age is where you are). You'll save some trouble with your step-mom. But..........having been 19 about 100 years ago, I can remember getting my then 14 yo brother baked. Boy did the shit hit the fan.

I started smoking bud at 12 or 13. By 15 I was a daily smoker... I guess it depends on his maturity level.

Like this guy said man, dont do it your old man is going to get hurt by this in the long run. He will have to side with the step mom. I know first hand dont do it, havent talked with my old man for going on 15yrs for stuff that happened between my step mom and me. Let him do it on his own and after he gets caught and his mom finds out, then its all good to smoke him out. Just my cents

If he's man enough to smoke, he's man enough to go out and get some himself. Anyone can and will have a drink or a smoke or anything if an older sibling offers it to them, because older siblings are often idolized for the freedoms the older age offers. Him going out and finding his own weed, or his own bottle of vodka, that then raises questions in the young un's head. Is this sensible, do I really want this, and not least, wow that's a lot of money. Let him fiend on his own payola.

I actually sort of agree with this. No one got me weed the first time I smoked. I was walking home from school one day when I was 12, and found an old school metal pipe on the ground...You know, the three piece ones with the mouthpiece and bown that screw off...Anyway, I took that sucker home and cleaned the shit outta it, an the next day I was at school asking everyone if they knew anything about weed. This one girl said her older brother smoked, and she snagged me like a gram from him...Brought it to me in an old school plastic film canister.

Really, the American DARE program introduced me to drugs...When some guy came into my classroom in 5th grade and started saying "Pot feels amazing the first time, then it never feels as good anymore.", well, that made me wanna know what that 'amazing' feeling felt like. Thanks, DARE. And my corrupt neighbors, who used to blow bongloads out their window, and I'd go chat with them outside their window when I was 8 or 9, and get bongloads blown in my face. I cant believe I had no idea what it was when I was 9.

Yeah
I would say a good rule of thumb would be when you comprehend the difference between to, too, and two you have become old enough!
When you have a few shots and a few tokes your punctuation is not your top priority. In fact why does a word that sounds the same need to have three different ways of being spelled. That's called mind control. You listen to what you're taught. I don't give a fuck about how you spell to.

Here's how this one goes.. Take notes..

He's 15.. If he wants to take a puff I'm sure he goes to a school full of people he can take his first puff from.. If he takes his puff and enjoys it and can handle it without getting in trouble, then you can let him take a puff or two.. If he takes a puff after school and gets in trouble with the folks/school/police at least you can say you had nothing to do with it..

Sounds like it wont be long before he figures all this out on his own (kinda like you did) so there's no reason for you to speed the natural process along.. Just let him get the ball rolling himself..

Please understand I'm not hating at all.. Do what you do n I hope yall stay safe!

I wouldnt open up that can of worms. You said he was already on meds for his ADD/ADHD, I wouldnt want to be the one to mix the 2 for the first time. And like mrgreengrower said, your father could end up being the one affected by the outcome of the decision to smoke him up. If you really think him smoking would help his situation, just talk about it a casual matter when the topic comes up, and eventually he will be curious to try it with his friends. But in the end it is your decision and you my decide to do it, but with all the risk involved is there really any reward...at least for you?

Many years ago my brother turned me onto it for the first time. I was 16 and he was 19. We were supposed to get high and watch a movie. Turned out, I couldn't watch the movie. I walked to a little store 4 blocks from home and bought all this junk food, lunch cakes and stuff like that. I sat on a wall down the street from there with all my stuff.....and got up and left it all there and walked back home again.
But I didnt smoke again until another 2 years later. :)

I really like this, and the "is a sheep" comment grabbed my attention.

If there is *any* way you can make some edibles for him, go with that. If not, I advocate having him hit off a vape. Otherwise and in the end, have him hit the pipe.

Just be diligent and responsible... be there the entire time. Observe his reaction and walk him through the entire high. Explain the medicinal portions of the medicine you've given him. Allow him to feel safe hitting with you, and ensure he recognizes that you're trying to help him, not just trying to get him 'high'.

I know there is not a whole lot of research, but the research that has been done has shown it is better to wait until later on when the brain is developed better and emotions have been stable

This isn't something you should ask for advice about. The fact your asking essentially for permission or confirmation means he probably isn't ready in your mind. Trust your guy and go with it. Your the one who has to live the decision.

If there's any history of mental health issues, depression, suicide, etc- then the later the better. I speak from personal experience- Cannabis can have detrimental effects on the mind during formative years, especially to someone with a predisposition.

If you feel compelled to introduce it to him I would say wait until he's out of high school and has some idea of what he wants to do with his life... even if it's just an idea. Weed makes you feel great. It makes you feel comfortable. It can also make you comfortable with things that you normally wouldn't be comfortable with. It's better to have aspirations for a good life, try your best to achieve them, and THEN smoke all the weed you want than to opt-out and end up with a dead-end job and think that it's acceptable because "at least I've got weed".

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE weed... but I know way too many people from high school and university that gave up on their goals because of weed. It made them okay with pretty much any lifestyle and income as long as they could still afford to get high.

Now before any of you say "I SMOKED WEED EVERY DAY SINCE I WAS 9 AND I HAVE 2 PHDs AND 4 HOUSES"... You know what I'm trying to say. Some people are much more responsible with weed than others, and some people have such strong passions in life that nothing (not even weed) will stop them from achieving their goals. Unfortunately not a whole lot of teenagers have this much clarity and motivation. If your brother has ADD and is hyperactive on top of that, then he'll need all the focus he can get.

I'm all for legalization (and hope that it happens sometime REAL soon), but I'm also an advocate for responsible use. You only get one childhood, and I personally believe that includes your teenage years.
