What happened to the Democrats??

I'm not military, but I generally disagree with most of the super christian republican postures.
Two out of three Americans support ending it. Republicans just shot it down because they think it'll make democrats look good. That's the game republicans have been playing since 2009.

He ramroded that 2000 page POS bill down our throats and has done nothing for job creation and the economy in 2 years.
I'm assuming you're talking about the stimulus bill. I'm not sure why you care about how many pages it was.

It was the single largest tax cut in US history and you say it has nothing to do with tax cuts, yet you support the bush tax cuts because you claim tax cuts create jobs.

You're contradicting yourself badly. Time to stop repeating what faux news tells you to think and start thinking for yourself. Reciting these republican talking points is only effecting when you're talking to other conservative sycophants. To the rest of us it just makes it sound like you don't know what you're talking about.

Dan, I can't debate someone who moves the argument around from tangent to tangent and continues to make false assumptions and puts words in my mouth. This isn't the first thread, btw. I was referring to the healthcare bill and as far as don't ask don't tell...I'm fine with whatever the majority of the military is fine with. As far as the GOP motivation, you may be right to a certain extent. I'm sure there are a number of reasons that are less than wonderful and characteristic of shitty partisan politics or catering to who funds them. I have no intention on defending the GOP on this. I think they are ridiculous for letting the democrats hijack every social issue and maintaining the image they have. Let gays get married too. Why? CAUSE THEY'LL GET A TAX BREAK!

So, I'll play the generalization mudslinging game like you have been since I'm a mindless faux news drone who doesn't know what he is talking about apparently. You may google on your computer and think it makes you socially aware and informed, but like most dumbshit liberals, you probably have never looked at a balance sheet, have zero buisness experience and not a cursory understanding of finance or the markets beyond reciting slanted stats on websites. I do all of these things daily and have the education to back it....I'm on the ground talking to people everyday in the middle of it. Yet, I don't what I'm talking about because you have pigeon holed me to a cable network that I don't watch. You ever underwritten a buisness that won't be able to get a loan because their new projected insurance increase drops their debt coverage to the point they can't get loan? YAY Obamacare. And just so you know, I have had the worst year of my life professionally but at least I can see the forest through the trees.

You want your handout, think everyone got handed their money and can't understand why you don't have your piece of the pie and "hope" the gov can do it for you because you're lazy....or maybe you just want the playing field level out of spite or so you don't feel inadequate knowing deep down these tax brackets will never be applicable to you, so screw em regardless of the consequences. You mask this with your pseudo-intellectual hipster style rants and try to play cool and the "compassionate" side without regard for what's pragmatic and fear that your social circle would out you if you don't chant fuck the corporations man. Problem with that is there are a lot of people like you that can vote. Not only will they get screwed, they are going to take down everyone with them. Best of luck.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. You go on to say,

You want your handout, think everyone got handed their money and can't understand why you don't have your piece of the pie and "hope" the gov can do it for you because you're lazy....
I don't want nor do I need handouts. I want the economy to recover and I want affordable health care to be considered a human right. I don't want someone else to pay for my health care, I can do that myself as I do now. I'm not lazy, nor am I on any sort of government assistance. I never have been.

or maybe you just want the playing field level out of spite or so you don't feel inadequate knowing deep down these tax brackets will never be applicable to you
I do ok, but thanks for asking.

Actually what I want is not to live in a country with a small elite ruling class and everyone else forced to beg for their table scraps. I'm not sure why everyone doesn't want the same. The middle class requires financial protections for it to exist. With out protection, the middle class will cease to exist.

Ironic how in half the threads people complain about me being too much of a capitalist and then in the others I'm some sort of welfare baby looking for a hand out.

So, in your opinion....

If it wasnt for the government and unions.

Big and small businesses would immediately drop everybody's wage to 5.00 per hour and PROFIT!!!

Capitalism is self regulating when not completely fucked with like in America.

Someone provides a product or service. If this product or service is popular then people will pay for it. If it is too expensive or not popular then people will not pay for it. Sucessful products or services will required people to provide them. These people will have varying levels of talent. Businesses will compete for these people with salary and benefits commensurate with the profit generated to the company. Rinse, repeat...

However, with 22,000 pages of tax code and millions of pages of regulation the American government has made it virtually impossible for the playing field to be level. 114 companies have been exempted from significant portions of the healthcare bill but unless you have a lobbiest or some political connection the other companies are shit out of luck (and that is one small example). Capitalism doesnt exist anymore in this country. It has been twisted and distorted to the point that it is not recognizable. And the ironic thing is now liberals point to the tortured model and claim it doesnt work. Well no shit sherlock...

Everything has been turned on its head...

Hey Dan?

Maybe we shouldnt treat the military like some sort of social program with an *American Idol* type of voting system.

It's not a social experiment for entertainment purposes. It's about the civil rights of Americans and strength of our military. I don't think DADT should be repealed because of some philosophical reasoning.

We kicked a bunch of Arabic translators out of the army because they were gay. That's legalized bigotry at the expense of our security.

Two thirds of the American people support it being repealed. The majority of people in the military support it being being repealed.

The only consensus group of people who don't support it are congressional republicans. They are going against both the will of the American people and the will of the military and you're defending it. And you claim to be an independent not playing for any team. This just shows that's a bunch of non-sense and you just think whatever faux news/republicans tell you to think.

Bull shit!

Show me one country in the world where free market capitalism exists? You can't, do you know why? Because free market capitalism doesn't work any better than pure communism. It's bullshit.

Conservatives often refer to "the free market" like it is a conscious being capable of being fair and understanding morality, but it isn't. Capitalism if left unchecked fucks over every person in the system except the guy on top in the end. We regulate finances for a reason.

Could you please show me a list of countries that were totally fucked over by capitalism? I could happily provide the same lists for marxism, socialism, etc... It always comes down to the same thing. Huge government overreaching and trying to micromanage every part of society and overtaxing its citizens to the point of bankrupcy... And by that point no significant portion of capitalism exists.

+rep mrdank & nlxsk1. -- I like the part about looking at the forest instead of the tree

I too am a libertarian, and personally I don't want any compromise with socialism. So the fact that repubs are holding things up in congress until they get they block the TAX HIKES, is acceptable. Following the midterm election the dems should get that it is their obligation to be flexible, being that the people spoke so loudly in objection to current politics.

There are no industrialized free market capitalistic countries in the world. There never have been. There is a good reason for that two. It'd be a disaster and everyone knows it. That's why no one is insane enough to try it.

I could happily provide the same lists for marxism, socialism, etc...
Just so we are clear, you do understand that socialism and marxism don't mean the same thing right?

There are plenty of successful socialist economies around the world as well as mixed economies that are far more socialistic than our own. In fact I can't think of any industrialized country with a strong economy that is further to the right than we are.

The people objected to the condition of the economy. You know, the economy that broke down after 8 years with a republican in the white house.

Yeah, that is what made us the greatest country in the world in a couple hundred years and what you are working so hard to destroy. You want us to be more like France.. I get it but I dont want to suck....

No matter which side of the aisle you agree with, I'd bet both sides have a lot of disgusting tactics and beliefs and practices and I would love to see Wikileaks get their hands on the House and Senate emails. I think we'd all be sick with all sides of the political wheel.

Agreed. I am not saying the Republicans are angels here. Their platform just happens to be alot closer to my position than the Democrats.
