What has happened to weed ?

Hello @Roger A. Shrubber. I see you like Canuck seeds, and I have an OG Kush seed from Canuck. Have any experience with that strain? I've had it a while because I have lots of others, but I love kush and was wondering if its worth spending 3 or 4 months growing it out. I grew a couple other canuck seeds a while back but I can't remember what. I think they were ok, but I've kind of forgotten about that breeder.
Thanks!
Cornbread Ricky did some work with Dominion.
There's some really good OG genetics in some of their triangle crosses.
There's few left around though.

Personally I only chuff after 7pm once the kids are upstairs and out of the way.

Ive done this for as long as I’ve had children (eldest is 11yrs old)

prior To having children I was only growing for 2 years before having any kids and never had enough supply to become tolerant lol.

i think with a lot of people it’s about how much you intake rather than what you’re intaking.

every night I have between 4-10 bongs and don’t develop any sort of tolerance to the strains I’ve been growing but then again im not chuffing from
Morning until night every day.

If I was chuffing from 8am until midnight or beyond every day, then besides a tolerance build up which might be inevitable I would be more concerned about what I was actually doing with my life to be able to chuff for that length of time every single day.

I stay baked on my supply homegrown all day do it right and won’t have this question. I rotate what I smoke so I don’t get used to the same stuff but other than that I have no complaints and don’t hear any either
Same, seeds are just so easily accessible. The idea of buying an ounce of one strain is itself old school -- the way ahead is variety in an ounce (or whatever unit suits you), not getting hit over the head at retail for individual 1/8ths and quarters.

Not everyone is a parent. I can easily sneak a "chuff" in between tasks, pretty much all day long if i want. But, generally speaking I agree with the rest, just not the "you need to reevaluate your life if you smoke all day", mind your own household hoss.

So how much are you purists ready to dole out for a verifiable landrace? Because I hear 5 whines for every serious buyer. And my price is less than 1/3 from the original keeper of the strain who retrieved it in 1979. It’s also 1/5 the price another guy is selling it for and obviously getting.

I believe a lot of the whiners have zero clue as to what it takes to maintain one of these strains. I can’t run anything else when I run for seed. The danger from a hermie or even nanners is enough I can only run the landrace.

It seems to me like all the weed genetics have been filtered out Lost and weed is getting weaker And there's plenty of whack seeds floating about ?
Grow your own and pheno hunt until you find your Unicorn. There are good genetics to work with. People don't grow sativas because they are jonesing for it asap. Instead of growing a 12+ week sativa that lights then up. Grow your own and dial in the specific effects you want. Other than that Enjoy the weed around and the fact that it is getting closer to decriminalization and people that had their life's taken away can get back to living happy life's. Sorry if I went off rails my edibles are kicking in. Peace out

Sneaking a chuff in between tasks. Lol.

if I went to work stinking of weed I’d get sacked simple as.

it’s still a class B narcotic in the U.K.

'verifiable landrace'
We would be happy to see the phylos data on your line.
Doing 'seed runs'.
I don't think you know what that means with landraces.
Requires a field full to do it properly. If you have a facility with acres to preserve landraces, where is the web site?
What you are doing is blind breeding, choosing plants at random to match together.
You definitely DO NOT have a landrace.
You have a F499 probably.

It's all autochthonous and allochthonous to me.... And you wonder why they're no longer prevalent?

The right term is 'Ruderal'.
As in 'escaped from captivity'.
There is no precursor plant on the planet. Cannabis was preserved in mankind's hands over a period of time that cannot be measured. ALL cannabis is 'ruderal' in it's most primitive sense. Just like ALL cannabis is Cannabis Sativa.
There are very clear agricultural definitions as to what a landrace is.
Many are deceived, because they listen to what ol' Uncle Joe has to say rather than a science class.
Landraces can be maintained anywhere with a large enough population to protect genetic diversity. Their traits explain which landrace it is. We have worldwide travel now, and landraces can move with human feet.
But to be preserved takes special effort.

Thanks. Does Pangaea matter? In other words, genetic diversity that changes at the rate of human feet does not make a landrace but diversity that changes at the rate of the earth's surface is a landrace -- what about birds and shit, animals migrating because of global warming? I mean, there are a number of ways seeds can move from place, to place. It's interesting, extinction of landraces, as defined in agriculture, seems inevitable as part of evolution.

Funny I was just pricing hiking gear and looking at the cost of a flight to parts unknown.
I thought there might be some people in a jungle someplace that have that magical land-race strain no one has found yet.
I could be the next Canna-Milionaire!

Idk.... Not saying that your wrong or that weed your smoking bad or anything, but maybe there isn't anymore love in the bud industry. Everything being produced for a business aspect instead of from the heart. That's what I think at least.

You're one hundred percent correct. Its new seed vendors looking to make a killing by creating hybrids that aren't worth a shit and slapping cheap labels on them to entice customers that aren't knowledgeable about what's what.

anything cookies, skittles, mint, breath, mimosa, etc is cheap, cheap crappy work. I don't care how many people these breeders have on their side or how much their cheap clones sell for. They're usually OG productions or GSC or of the likes but there's many others I cant even begin to classify, and that's the point. Too many people creating hybrids, realizing they can sell seeds for a lot of money. I wont even say these hybrids produce bad marijuana as likely some of them are bred from quality strains. But so what... the good stuff is usually watered down when it comes to whatever made that strain unique.

autos everywhere is another hug problem for the future of preserving unique genetics.

the idea is you get what you pay for, in any business, but that's not exactly the truth with this one.

There are some new breeders in the US and Canada that are trying to preserve old school elite cuts and some landrace companies, and of course the old school Amsterdam stuff, a lot of that's been lost, but if you do your homework the quality, unique, old school stuff is still around if you know where to go.

it's about natural selection, and the multitude of environmental influences which are simply missing in grow tents. Genetic information lost in the process unknowingly

it's sometimes strange with automatik genetics when seeds display bizarre flowering behaviour like throwing alot of round non-serrated "sugarleaves" and never budding out properly and what not else...

There was a lot more Afghani in the mix, up until OG Kush became popular.
If it wasn’t some variation of Afghan/Skunk there was usually some Northern Lights thrown in there, or White Widow, or Blueberry etc. all of these strains have a much heavier Afghani influence than the OG’s and Cookies, which made the weed more couch-locky than most of the popular stuff out there today.
