What is going on with kids today?

At least they play outside instead of sitting inside all day and we criticise them for getting 'square eyes'.

People might not actively hate other races but might stick to racial cliques because of ignorance, it is what is familiar and helps them retain a sense of identity. It is sad when there is an active refusal or backlash against mingling. Unfounded hatred, born of ignorance is heartbreaking. I was an outcast through high school as the interracial mutt that none of the cliques really wanted around :(

Spare the Rod, Spoil the Child.

My children were no stranger to having a knot jerked in thier asses.(my youngest is 23 now) I see more disrespect from the children of today, as most of my work is in schools. I know in my day, if I had talked to a teacher or any adult for that matter, the way these kids (and parents) do, I would more than likely not made it out of my childhood or if I did, I would deffinently have some physical impairments far worse than I have today.

I feel sad for the children of today and tomorrow, cause they are going to be in the fight of thier lives before its over.

Peace

the way I think about it is... there is also stereotypical and cultural biasses or a lack of exposure. Do we not fear what we dont understand? I think Racism is more an outward hatred than what the other phrases would describe.

whats going on with the kids today.....

hmmm... I was asked by a psycho-analyst to make a simile for raising a child. Without hesitation i said "raising children is like growing pot... or uh plants or fruit trees...."

You said you were still a horrible teenager... Its nothing against you, it's saying that getting hit doesnt make a good child or a good parent.

If you teach your child from the start it shouldn't get to the point where they need hitting. What happened to having a conscience?

Ask the majority of kids these days and they don't even know what the word conscience means...legitimately.

"dude wtf don't you have a conscience at all?" "No what's that? Can I smoke out of it?"

i was a horrible teenager for other reasons nothing to do with my parents showing me what was wrong by getting the belt to the butt. have fun trying to teach your kids the "new age" parenting ways, youll loose to them

oh and i dont mean like puching your kid in the face hitting them.
a quick bend over smack on the butt isnt going to hurt them or emotionally scar them for the rest of their lives. and of course you dont do it in public either

Children don't need discipline, they need guidance
just because you discipline your child doesnt mean youre not giving them guidance , i think yall are looking at discipline in the wrong way of

" i beat my kids every night because he dropped a grape on the floor"
that is not what i mean,
however, if your child warrants such behavior that needs discipline it should be done. kinda like when your cat jumps on the counter tops and you spray it with water the cat isnt traumatized for life, it just knows if it goes on the counter its going to have consequences to its actions now im not at all means saying everything a child does wrong deserves a smack on the butt there are other ways of discipline, writing lines, grounding, taking away rights like cell phone use, xbox ect computer time toys,

The movie Detachment that Balzac posted a thread about earlier gives pretty good insight on this topic.

They should seriously make something similar to shock collars for kids. Little behavior correction bracelet or something. That way when your in public at a restaurant or something and the kids what to start acting up you can give them the warning tone. They still dont behave then ZAP! I said sit down and be quiet. Leave the couple behind you alone damn it.

behavior of one child vs several is a huge difference. Almost all single children are angels. Add a few more and they turn into demons. I have 3 kids so I am not just talking out my ass.
