All things that can be achieved with normal clones/seeds.

To answer the thread starters question the BIG advantage of auto flowers is you can flower them outdoors without having a 12/12 light cycle which is key when your temperature might be right but your light cycle isnt.

I dont personally see any advantage. All the ones listed so far are all things that can be achieved with female clones and proper preparation.

for indoors you can leave it in the veg area if thats an advantage. They are popular in places that have short outdoor seasons or bad weather

I agree.
Outdoor they can control the light by covering plants etc ,
Outdoor it may be useful i guess but totally pointless indoor ...

I know it can be done but Id like to see a comparison of 18/6 vs 12/12 the darkness period is key for producing great buds or so I thought.

As mentioned...there are pros and cons to auto flowering plants. Besides the fact that autos cannot be cloned, I'm sure that the shorter life cycle outweighs the drawbacks for someone working with minimal space.
Auto flowering plants simply put are strains which have been crossed with cannabis ruderalis which is an early flowering species.

Cannabis ruderalis is a putative species of Cannabis originating in central Russia. It flowers earlier than C. indica or C. sativa, does not grow as tall, and can withstand much harsher climates than either of them. Cannabis ruderalis will produce flowers based on its age, rather than changes in light cycle like C. sativa and C. indica varieties.[SUP][1][/SUP] This kind of flowering is also known as auto-flowering.[SUP][2] [/SUP](WIKI)

Ive never tried it but I think it can be done and your clone will just start flowering the same time as your mom once its rooted. Could be wrong though

My veg and flower tents are the same size so I have a little extra room in my veg tent that I occasionally throw an auto or 2 in just for a little variety:) That's the only real advantage I can think of... lol! Other than that most of the advantages can be accomplished by goin 12/12 from seed I would think:) Never done that though!
