when is the best time to take a cutting

wat i want to no is how tall i need to grow a mother b4 i can start taking cuttings and i got 12x20watt cfl total of 15,000lumens is the a nuff to keep a mother going was thinking about using the 12 lights on 2mother plants wat do u think people

If this helps at all, I have a mom under 2 x 27 W 5500 cfl's and I cut clones when they get to about 6" above ground. The mom is now a shrub. The guideline is that you need 1-2 nodes under your cut and 2-3 nodes ON your cut. Make sure no N in that soil or they will not root.
