Where can I find cheap grow lights (UK)

Well, I'm growing my first batch of pot plants ever, so obviously my set-up is going to be a very modest one.

I've covered all the bases except the most expensive one, the growing lights.

I've looked around online, but not found many sites based in the UK. I ask this because I refuse to pay the extortionate P&P fees incurred from ordering other countries.

If anybody knows of a decent website that sells grow lights at reasonable prices, (I'm a student bum, sue me XD) then could you please share them with me?

Try Ebay,its where i got my first light setup.Obviously look for a reliable seller.

I was gonna go for the high pressure sodium's off ebay myself but a local store I know are doing CFL 60ws cheap and its much more efficient for the odour control box im designing and my first grow.

Really depends on what your going for tbh.

Well, I made a paypal account ages ago, but sort of lost interest when they were bringing in the 'deposit 2 small amounts of money in your bank and then get you to tell them like some fucking performing chimp'.

Is ebay really the only way to get a good deal?

As for what I'm after, I want to sort out a good strong vegging light and also a good budding light.

Details on my current patchwork setup:
- My old wardrobe filled with tinfoil
- A dismanted lamp with an energy saving 100 watt-esque bulb.
- 3 1-week old shoots and two seeds I planted yesterday. Just want a better chance at having more than 1 female y'know?

As for seeds/strain, I have no idea. My friend who's also growing for the first time gave me some of his, that a friend gave him out of an ounce he'd bought.

He claims it's cheese, but UK stoners know that dealers will call pot any old name as an excuse to rip people off.

Just been back from the BNQ went to get a storage box for a grow room, they have some really good CFLs there, you can get like a 60w with lamp for 10 quid, get 3 thats 180w for only 30 quid.

Hmmm. No B&Q, but there IS a Homebase not far from here. Might be worth a look if it isn't shut.

Okay, went for a look and could only find bog-standard house bulbs.

Except this one bulb which was a small corckscrew shape, ten pound for one and gave out more light than a 100-watt lightbulb, while also being a 'heat' light. It was in the white colour spectrum, I believe.

The point's moot, as there was nothing on sale that I could actually put any lightbulbs in anyway.

i would try and NOT use ebay as most of the items are very cheap chinese imports that go bang after a few weeks.

just dont go into b and q asking for canna nutes like my mates bird did the assistant knew what see was doing, we still take the piss 6 months on.

Hydro shops sometimes sell 2nd hand HIDs, you could prob pick a new one up with a shade for £50/60.

Don't think I've ever even heard of a hydro shop! Haha, don't worry, I'll evaluate the situation in a much more serious sense when I've got some cash.
